I guess that I don't understand the term "racist nationalist", this was a black on black crime so what was the motivation?

There probably is a celebration going on in Dearborn, MI. This is a copy and paste; "Dearborn is the eighth largest city in the State of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 98,153 and is home to the largest Muslim population in the United States."

At one time I was studying to become a pharmacist and worked for a younger Chaldean pharmacist and his fraternity brother, an Iranian. We were a very social group after the work day and knowing how much I enjoyed Middle Eastern cuisine, the Iranian friend took me into Dearborn for dinner. Guesstimating, Dearborn is ONLY 10 to 12 miles outside of Detroit but once you get there, it's like you've left the United States and are in an entirely different country.
The food is fabulous and I felt comfortable there but I was in the company of an Iranian man. I had no interest in returning for any reason, especially by myself.

Sounds like the residents of Dearborn are suffering a bit from the "all tarred with the same brush" cliché. Or at least WERE - the article's a bit old!
Great Britain/UK is a huge melting pot of different cultures. Are you aware of cultural/racial problems and how does your government address and correct the matters?
I'm wary of mentioning this, because the country is still split over this even in "lockdown", but our recent decision (by 52% to 48%) to leave the EU has unleashed a lot of anti-foreigner sentiment in this country.
The terrorist attacks of the recent past have also stirred up a lot of Islamophobia.
I have a suspicion that David Goodhart may have been onto something when he came up with the idea of "Anywheres v Somewheres". I fear that the "somewheres" CAN translate their, well-founded, worries that global capitalism has left them behind into xenophobia and racism.
Our government is, currently, right-wing and has not been averse to using dogwhistle politics when it has thought it to be expedient. They make all the right noises, usually, about equality and diversity but we still have institutional racism on a worrying scale and some deep-seated "little England" views in the populace as a whole.
Your best bet is to come over and see for yourself (I have a spare room!)!
As for visiting the UK to observe first hand the cultural/racial differences, don't tease me. I've banked my stimulus check and last week I received a check for

What didn't post was that I received a refund check for less than $26.00 from my automobile insurance company. Between a $1200.00 stimulus check and an insurance refund check, I have $1226.00 USD that are burning a hole in my pocket.

Although making stuff up, and seeing who spots the fakes, sounds like a brilliant idea!!!
But getting back to escargot, it seems rather labor intensive, no? Remove the homely little buggers from their shell, cook them in butter, wine and seasoning only to shove them back in the shell to serve them? What kind of foodie thought of that? Why not eat a steak, less hassle!?
Have you had escargot and if you have, what are your thoughts? Me, I've never tried them.

My nephew also has a stepdaughter, who he loves as his own, she's 8 years old. There was a discussion about what the plans are regarding bus transportation to and from school come September. One child per seat, then spacing another child 2 or 3 rows behind. Our schools normally open right after Labor Day, in September. It's good to know that the school systems have given thought to the COVID-19 pandemic and have a plan for social distancing.
As a mature person, in age, it saddens me that our world will never be the same, that this is what we are leaving for our children, grandchildren and all the children to come.
We are only on this planet a short time. Let's live OUR best life possible and not fuck our planet up.

I do what I do, because it's what I CHOOSE to do. I have only ever blocked 1 person (JohnS?) after he blocked me, and that was in my early days here when I was learning the ropes.
I block nobody. People can leave the nastiest gifts on my page - water off a duck's back. People can come up with the most profane insults for me - all good. Ad hominem attacks usually mean someone has lost the REAL argument and has resorted to base insults.
You behave like a fucking 12 year old who's had her allowance stopped. Grow up - you'll find this site a more pleasant experience if you do (just my opinion).
