Nancy Pelosi falls and breaks her hip
Maybe they can give her and Biden a joining room in a nursing home where they can talk about how great the Democratic Party was at one time way back in 1962 if they can remember back that far
By phart [Ignore] 15,Dec,24 07:46 other posts
Well a broke hip can be a real pain. But I agree 100%, i hope they can both be in the old folks home, farting and chewing on ice cubes, watching America recover from their ineptness.

Since I look at online cooking and recipes, it doesn't surprise me that daily I receive a vast number of different recipes via email. Today I received a recipe for BOILED fruit cake! What in the world!?

been trying to find a clackston "spelling" fruit cake for my dad and can't find 1.
By bella! [Ignore] 09,Dec,24 08:51 other posts
I Google'd "clackston fruit cake" and found that Claxton Bakery Inc, located in Claxton, Georgia have their CLAXTON fruit cakes sold at Walmart and through Amazon.
By bella! [Ignore] 11,Dec,24 00:17 other posts
Before I forget, I went to Walmart today and specifically looked for a Claxton fruit cake and the Walmart in LaBelle was completely out of stock!

Fruit cake is gross 🤮 to begin with no matter how it is prepared
By bella! [Ignore] 09,Dec,24 08:44 other posts
Actually, I disagree with you regarding fruit cake. Fruit cake is like turkey and egg nog.....I gotta have it this time of year. I actually like fruit cake!
By dgraff [Ignore] 09,Dec,24 08:56 other posts
That’s okay just slide me the tray of Christmas cookies 🍪
By bella! [Ignore] 09,Dec,24 10:05 other posts
Any particular Christmas cookie that you like best? This time of year evokes so many memories. My mother would start baking "Christmas cookies" right around Thanksgiving time. Although my mother probably baked 6 different types, my favorite were these wonderfully plain but very rich shortbread cookies. My preference were the cookies that were cooked a bit longer. Then there were these little round yummies that I believe were called Russian Tea Balls. They looked like mini snowballs, rolled in confectionery sugar when removed from the oven and just two bites.....

I like them all Marcy and Kayla start baking cookies around thanksgiving and they don’t stop until snickers and my self get tired of them
I like the sand tarts and they make a chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips in it and then there’s the peanut butter cookies

Admit it, you just like to eat and you appreciate your domestically skilled little lady and her home cookin'! If I Google'd the saying; "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" , MY GUESS is that I would find a picture of you with a content smile on your face!
By dgraff [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 18:31 other posts
Your absolutely correct bella tonight she is making chicken Alfredo for dinner and I had sloppy Joe’s for lunch
By bella! [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 19:15 other posts
Sounds like you're eating GOOD! Do you eat a hearty breakfast, too? Hey, dgraff, since retiring have gained any weight?
By dgraff [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 23:12 other posts
No weight gain here and my breakfast consists of black coffee and cigarettes
By bella! [Ignore] 13,Dec,24 00:09 other posts
That's not the breakfast of champions!

You seem like a man that enjoys eating and appreciates a good meal. Why just coffee and cigarettes for breakfast?
By dgraff [Ignore] 13,Dec,24 06:19 other posts
I guess because my sleep pattern is all screwed up
Marcy starts work at 6 AM so I’m on the road at 5:30
Kayla works nights
So I get 4 hours of sleep per night then I take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon before I pick up Marcy and I’m the only one that drives in the family
By bella! [Ignore] 13,Dec,24 07:12 other posts
Hmmmmm......

So when you return home from taking Marcy to work you drink begin your coffee and cigarettes morning routine? Tell me you're skillset includes making a pot of oatmeal, pouring yourself a bowl of Cap'n Crunch or scrambling an egg, or two! Even peanut butter on toast is a better alternative to what you're having, Mr dgraff.....

My aunt used to buy all the stuff and make her own fruit cakes and it was alot of work and actually quite costly to make them, but they sure were good. I will miss them just as I miss her as she passed away during the summer. Thanksgiving without her was odd. but the grandkids have worked hard to write down all her recipes and they did very well cooking the dinner themselves this year!
By dgraff [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 18:34 other posts
The fruit cakes my mom used to buy were hard as a rock i don’t see how anyone could eat it without breaking their teeth
We must be talking about two different things
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 18:38 other posts
The claxton is a soft fruitcake, I’ve tried it, it was good, can only eat alittle at a time because it’s so rich
By phart [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 19:14 other posts
no some recipes are hard, some are softer. My aunts would hold together when you lifted it,but was easy to eat.
By bella! [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 19:17 other posts
I've got an extra fruit cake that I would be happy to send your way, Cody. Just let me know.

When I was a t**n I had a seasonal job working at a JCPenny catalog call center. We were required to upsell at least one item on every order. One of those items was a “Delicious brandied spiced fruit cake, packed in a festive holiday tin”. I don’t know if it was the way I read that to the people, or the fact I sounded like I was 12 but I did pretty well with getting them out. I made $0.25 for each one I sold. I never actually saw one, but I imagine they were like hockey pucks.
By bella! [Ignore] 13,Dec,24 08:17 other posts
Fruit cakes are rather firm but I attribute that to all that firm, candied fruit.

You remember that spiel from years ago, do you happen to remember the cost of "Delicious brandied spiced fruit cake, packed in a festive holiday tin."? Fruit cake is a tough sale and it's difficult to understand why they only paid a $0.25 commission on each sale.
By AngelofDeath [Ignore] 13,Dec,24 10:47 other posts
I want to say they were pretty pricey, between $29.95-$35.00. I remember thinking who would want these? Surprisingly enough they sold pretty well. I have no idea why they gave us a lousy quarter but I was 17 and it added up. The brand that made them is still around, Grandmas. They also made cookies, which we sold too.
By bella! [Ignore] 13,Dec,24 10:59 other posts
Wow! Those cheap bastards! Can you imagine the cut or profit that JC Penney made on each of those $30.00+ fruit cakes or tins of cookies which you sold which you received only 25cents on! My guess is that it became a contest between you and the other workers to see who would excel. But it's still UNBELIEVABLE that you only earned one, thin quarter! Merry fricken Christmas!

Just recently I tried to sign on to this site and got an error message. I tried many times and it still wouldn’t let me sign on. I searched the error and figured out if you clear your browser history you will be able to sign back into the site. I’m sure there are members that can’t get back in, so if you don’t see a regular on site for a while and you can get in contact with them, reach out to them and have them clear there cache or there browser history. Or if members can read this offline you will know what to do.

I had a paver stone patio laid last year and there are unsightly weeds growing through a small area. This area represents about 15% of the patio area. I'm all for pulling the weeds however the pavers are so tight that I wind up just breaking off the top of the growth. Any ideas I can do or use to kill the growth? Thank you.
By t-rex [Ignore] 11,Dec,24 18:56 other posts
It’s funny how they tell you no weeds will grow,,, but weeds can root just about anywhere
You have a Walmart and an Ace Hardware in your town. Grab a gallon of RoundUp with a sprayer. No more broken back, just spray. Should kill the weeds in a couple days. Then just spray every week or two if the come back. A jug for your small area might last 6 months.
By bella! [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 14:32 other posts
Thank you. The weeds/plant life growing pavers are so unsightly. I spent a good deal of money on my place in Florida last year and those weeds truly make me sad.....
By phart [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 19:17 other posts
if you are organic, and don't like chemicals, a spray made of epsom salts and vinegar will kill the stuff and not be harmful to any thing but it is a short lived relief, you have to use it often.

regardless of what you use, let the weed act bravely and grow back up a few inches, then spray it's happy ass. the more green you can get spray on, the quicker and better job it will do killing it.
By bella! [Ignore] 12,Dec,24 19:24 other posts
Well, I was home for almost 6 months and I definitely noticed the weeds when I returned. Like I said, I'm all for pulling the weeds out HOWEVER the success of this removal is contingent upon the root being removed.

I would prefer an organic approach IF the results were permanent.

Glyphosate will say on the bottle good for a year or whatever but bs. I had issues with a driveway i used to maintain for a lady, I bought expensive stuff, sprayed it, month later she was bitchen.
