Yes he is a big fan, so am I, for years, the guy still tours locally, I should make a effort to go out & see him, I still have some of his stuff on original tape, which I like to play from time to time, yes I still have a tape deck, a real good one, its a Marantz hooked up to a 12 channel equalizer, I have quite a big record collection as well, with a good quality player, even till this day I like to put record onto tape, why you might ask, because I am nostalgic I guess🤷‍♂️

But ya gotta check out fart guy he is the funniest, well he is funny, but its the reactions of his victims that kills it

Crap, I just checked his tour dates, he still tours internationally, his next stop is the UK, well there you go Whatsupcocks you might be lucky at some point he might make it out your way as well.

Last night I wanted a pizza so I placed my order and immediately went to pick it up. I find that the business will say 20 to 25 minutes but your pizza is often available in 15 to 20 and I want to eat it when it's hot..... Oh well, last night it really took 20 to 25 minutes so once I got to the pizzeria, I waited 10 more minutes. I'm not going to lie, I ❤️ to people watch and engage in conversation. Last night this fella was picking up an order that caught my attention, it was what I thought I heard was a BLT pizza with extra mayo. So in my head I'm visualizing this pizza slathered with EXTRA mayo, an abundance of chopped or shredded lettuce, fresh tomato and sprinkled generously with a premium topping, BACON. I ask him whether this BLT pizza will be eaten on day #2 and his response is "no", he tosses it away however he corrects me. It's not a BLT pizza, it's a LT pizza minus the B. Who in the heck, in their right mind gets a mayonnaise pizza topped with lettuce and tomato, ONLY? And he looked so "normal"........
By kebmo [Ignore] 06,Aug,24 17:56 other posts

Lettuce on a pizza, I have never heard of that before, is that a common thing in America

Also is it something that is put on the Pizza before or after its cooked

Taco pizza as they call it around here has lettuce on it.Not to bad, i pass by it at the buffet for something else usually.
By #719542 06,Aug,24 22:54
So is the lettuce cooked or is it added afterwards
By dgraff [Ignore] 06,Aug,24 23:00 other posts
It’s added after the pizza is cooked in my opinion lettuce 🥬 does not belong on a pizza 🍕 not mine anyway
By #719542 06,Aug,24 23:13
well that makes sense, each to his own I guess, I don't believe lettuce is something to be cooked 🤷‍♀️

For example, I used to live in a different state, it was a while back, so I'm not sure if its because of state, or things have changed with time.

So lettuce is part of a kabab, originally it was served fresh not toasted.

Where I live now the default is to serve toasted, you have to specify fresh, toasted ruins the lettuce & the Lebanese bread, I think that's what it is called, the stuff they wrap it in, also get ruined in my opinion

I like to put a mention out there about old mate phart

I have the deepest admiration for you bloke & you make me laugh all at the same the same time.

You are the only active member that I would call as an "outsider" within Grannies #610414 forum thread " NEW STUFF, OLD STUFF, ANY STUFF III" that she has claimed as her own.

The primary forces there seem to be yourself, Saggy, Leo & the Dutch Man. with cameo appearances from just a few other members.

Saggy & Leo like to give you a good slap around, the Dutchman holds no punches & likes to slap you all around from time to time 🤭

I have no gripe with the Dutchman, we have had dramas with each other in the past, but we have got over that & have a understanding with each other now, seems like a lot of members here don't like the guy but I do.

I also have no gripe with Leo, I know he is not liked by many here, but personally I have had no problem with him.

So getting onto what I wanted to say about you phart, you get slapped around, beaten down, you just get up, dust of & off you go again, your a man of strong constitution, true of heart & soul, I don't care what anyone says & you WILL not stand for anyone that tries to take any of that from you, fuck man don't stop, your awesome.

I know there are others here (including myself) that would like to join you & fight along side you in your single handed war against oppression, but most of us are blocked by the Saggy & we can't.

I follow you there numerous times logged out every day & you have my full support bloke

Lets talk cooking for something a little different.

Air friers:
only registered users can see external links

This type of one has been around for donkeys now, I like to call it a shake & bake, to get any type of constancy in cooking, especially if you have a bit of gear in it you have to keep pulling the draw out & give it a good shake.

We bought one a while back & really only used it a few times, keeping a eye on it, having to shake it, especially while watching tv having a few drinks, cooking up some chips or something would often forget to get up & shack the thing, leaving a meal with a in-constant cooking. Cleaning was also a pain.

We moved on from one of these types a while back now to a upright one, resembling a small conventional oven, it had a failure with its rotating basket, but still use it to make jerky & stuff but replaced it with one of these little beauties.

only registered users can see external links

This thing is the shit, has a rotisserie in it so you can cook a smaller chicken on it, as a fan forced convection oven or using its air fryer function, larger birds can go on a baking tray & use the fan forced convection oven function.

A rotating basket that you can more or less chuck anything in that you would normally deep fry, has a tray to air fry meats into yummy jerky to whatever you desirer including frying of fruit & veg, if that's your thing.

Immediate heat up times & cooking times compared to a regular convection oven are minimal, saving money on energy.

A snap to clean, in fact we only have a small kitchen & would like a dishwasher, at some time soonish our regular convection oven will be replaced with a dishwasher, we haven't turned it on once since having these little air fryers.

They are small, sure, but if we have people over & need to cook a larger amount of food, we simply spark up the BBQ.

You can’t afford to buy cheap shit. That’s my advice on roofing and a lot of things in life.
We get a fair amount of hail storms in Alberta and they really fuck up your roof and siding. My dad had his roof done about 10 years ago and I think the shingles were slate, but I’m not sure. He pays less for hail damage insurance and his neighbours on both sides have since installed the same shingles.

I just spent 42 thousand on a new roof because my roof was 17 years old and my insurance company wouldn’t cover my house after a 15 year old roof. I also pay 10,400.00 a year on my homeowners ins. My house is paid off so I really don’t have to hold ins on my house but living in s. Florida where we get a lot of hurricanes I felt I need it. I don’t need flood ins. Because I’m not in a flood zone do to increased elevation when the home was built.

By Cody8789 [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 06:13 other posts
The roofs are very important down here in Florida, they have to withstand 120 mile an hr storms to be covered under ins. Also roofs have to be braced with metal clamps to keep roof from flying off in a hurricane. The braces are not standard on homes not in hurricane areas. With the new insurance laws, most roofs on houses are only covered with a ten thousand deductible on the roof because insurance companies are going out of business in south fl. Because they can’t cover the cost of replacing roofs and damage done. What I here is insurance is so expensive here that most people with no mortgage payments are not getting covered because ins is way too expensive. The money you save in three to four years without ins. Will cover the cost of a new roof. Just hope you don’t lose your whole house.

Dare i say it, climate change, you Americans have been getting the shit pounded out of you guys in recent years, I speak to a lot of Americans in my rl job & things as far as climate from what I have communicated with a lot of your are accelerating, it seems closer to the equator is worse 🥹

Pennsylvania, like I would know where the fuck that was 🤭, just looked it up, you guys as far as Earth dimensions go aren't to far from the equator also. I would suspect you have climate change results there as well, I live in a little land so to far north from Antarctica, as you know, climate change is happening here as well but not as, violently I guess, but I suppose the areas near the equator, closed to the sun will cope it worse first 🤷‍♀️

Your metal roof was only 15k? That sounds affordable, I haven't found many companies that will do them but do have appointments with 2 in the next few days. We will see if a metal roof is in my future.
By dgraff [Ignore] 02,Aug,24 07:33 other posts
I went that route because I got tired of putting a new roof on every 20 years my problem was the black walnut trees they have an acidic nature to their leaves and tree dirt that over years will destroy the best of shingles but they don’t touch or even discolor the powder coating on the metal roof

I don't get American roofing,

I am no expert, but from the little I understand of it you might call it "shingles" (even seen a lot of it even on modern buildings on our recent trip over there) made from different types of materials, like little squares of stuff that are nailed to you trusses & overlap each other preventing moisture to enter the roof cavity, similar to what we call tiles but much different.

What I am guessing is the they would be in varying life spans depending on the types of materials they are made from, assuming the cheaper ones would have a lesser lifespan, but at the end of the day it seems that this type of roofing has an expendable life then ripped of & totally & replaced at some point at a big expense, its seems ludicrous to me 🤷‍♂️

We have 2 basic roof coverings over here, one is tin, more or less, one is tiles.

Our tiles are more or less concrete plates, only registered users can see external links they last about 30 years, then needing restoration, they just need to be re-pointed, concrete stuff on the tips, water blasted & repainted then good to go for another 30 years at a cost for about 5k for a average sized home.

The other common type of roofing is tin, or commonly know as Colourbond only registered users can see external links it also goes of a bit after 30 years & can be also restored at roughly the same price as our tiles 🤷‍♂️
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 06:01 other posts
I have barrel tile, it’s hard to maintain, they crack very easy. I made sure roofer left about sixty extra tile in case I have to replace any myself.
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:07
Is that like a concrete tile or maybe something like a fired clay maybe 🤷‍♀️
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 06:15 other posts
It’s a hard clay tile
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:16
Looks nice but yer I would imagine a real headache to maintain 🤷‍♀️
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:11
Ok I just googled it

Barrel roof tiles are rounded, semi-cylindrical tiles that complement old-world architecture, such as Spanish and Mediterranean styles. When they're installed on your roof, one tile faces up while the next tile faces down, creating an interlocking pattern that is attractive and durable.

Seems to be overly complicated & probably quite brittle by looks 🤷‍♀️
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 06:15 other posts
Every time I walk on the roof I crack a tile
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:18
Yer I can stomp around on my concreate roof tiles doing stuff up there, not a problem 🤷‍♀️
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 06:21 other posts
Just replacing one tile you have to crowbar four adjacent tiles without breaking them which is hard and slip the new one in, like fucking a virgin
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:23
Yer it would be like opening up a can of worms I would imagine
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:33
I want to get solar power, where I live its more or less FREE from gov subsidies, my roof needs restoration, pointing & stuff at about 4 to 5k, no point putting panels on a roof that needs repair, the structure of the roof is strong enough to put tin on, tin roofs the other way around are not to replace with tiles, tin is less maintenance & looks better in my opinion, doesn't have the same thermo projection, but I have celling insulation 2 rating over than what I need, so if I can get tin, I think that might better the better way to go if I could get a replacement for about 10k, I still need to look into it 🤷‍♀️
By #719542 30,Jul,24 06:37
Nice to have contact with you again Cody8789 I do think about you on my frequent disappearing acts, your a nice bloke mate
By bella! [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 09:35 other posts
What you refer to as a tin roof is similarly known as a metal roof. Metal roofs are comparatively more expensive than the roofs surfaced with ASPHALT SHINGLES. Yeah, as Cody8789 alluded to, asphalt shingles have a lifespan of approximately 15 to 20 years. The one roofing company claimed their shingles have a lifetime of 50 years and there's 30 years warranty on THEIR workmanship. I can only speak for myself and I highly doubt that I will be around to bring out my paperwork and call upon either of those warranties. Just sayin' or perhaps I should be saying, just being realistic!
By #719542 30,Jul,24 16:47
Oh ok, so it might be that singles are used to reduce the initial cost of building in the first place, that would make cense, maybe we don't see them here because of different building codes, however some historical buildings like old churches have them, I actually thought Saint Stevens Cathedral had them but in some pics I looked up it appears to be replaced with tin now, but the chapel beside the main building still retains its shingled roof, a few years back I remember that Church was badly damaged by storm.

I was never a roofer but I did spend some time in the building trades, I know in QLD for example our houses have to be built to withstand cyclone to a degree, a certain code, there are various ways they do that with tie downs, bracing in the corners of walls & other things, there are certain specs for roofing as well that I am not 100% sure on, but on a tin roof at least the screws holding the stuff on are much longer that in other states, maybe that's another reason you don't see shingles here, I would suspect the integrity of the shingle against cyclone would be very poor.

So that makes me wonder, do you see shingled roof's in places like Florida 🤷‍♀️
By bella! [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 17:21 other posts
My parent's houses and my various houses have had asphalt shingles. The metal roofs are becoming popular, but they are pricier.
By #719542 30,Jul,24 17:23
So do you see shingled roofs in storm effected areas like Florida 🤷‍♀️
By bella! [Ignore] 30,Jul,24 17:55 other posts
Yes, I see asphalt shingles, roof tiles and as Cody8789 stated, he used slate on his house. I don't think that Michigan has the extreme weather like in Florida. We surely don't have the heat, we have tornadoes while Florida has hurricanes. And another thing, Michigan doesn't have ALLIGATORS!
By #719542 30,Jul,24 18:41
Alligators , I would think you guys up there would have few reptiles if any, the place turning into a 🧊 over the colder months, they wouldn't be able to survive, maybe some have adapted to hibernate during winter maybe 🤷‍♀️, same would go for amphibians would be my guess.

We have crocodiles here as you would know, not so much down this way, they could survive here though, Australia Park **** is not to far from me, the late Steve Irwin's place, but last night here for example it got down to 2deg C, so probably to cold for them to live in the wild.

Further north they are everywhere, almost in plague proportions, they were hunted to near extinction for their skins but become protected a long time ago & unlike Florida for example that has gator season, which I think is a good idea to try & keep numbers down, we have no such thing here.

A really good ambush predator & they help to keep the number of tourists down from time to time, they tend to enjoy eating Asians mostly 🤭, getting withing 6 feet of any body of water, up at say Cairns for example, the possibly is you will be eaten alive 🐊
