My brother lived in Abu Dhabi for 20 years and has since retired. He has seen the UAE go from a desert to a metropolis during that time.
He and his wife bought a place in Dubai but they have always come home to Canada during the sweltering heat of the summer there.

The UAE has a very large population of people from India to build things, serve people, and work in the tourist and oil industry. Most of them work for a mere pittance so unfortunately they don’t live the good life that the citizens do.
