Our school district just announced plans to return to actual school.

You will have 2 options...

Attend class physically OR online. If you choose online you will be held to the same standard as the rest of the children who physically attend.

The students will have to wear masks, and the school has installed air purifiers.

I applaud the decision!

Oh you have noticed the numbers of cases strangly have not went up in places of riots to uh? odd,very odd.
When I read the virus can be caught from the eyes I lost alot of faith in mask.
There is a tear duct that leads straight into the throat and the virus can hit the eye,get washed down and you have the bug. I am glad they are putting in air purifiers,that is great.Should be doing that in all public places. Most of the mask people are wearing are designed to work in sterile enviroments. As Michiganders, we are required to wear face coverings in all public indoor spaces. Businesses are to refuse entry or services to those who do not comply. I went to Kroger today, our large grocery store and who do they have enforcing this rule? It's the entry level people, the young folks. I shopped today and this poor probably 17 to 18 year old was being verbally beat down by a mature man that felt he didn't have to wear his mask. If Kroger wants to make sure that all guests are in compliance, why doesn't Kroger appoint someone from their management team to stand at the front door to ensure 100% cooperation?

That's my point, they staff the door with the kids. The same kids that they send into the parking lot to collect shopping carts, in rain, heat or snow, the same kids that bag your groceries, the same kids that are required to keep the public restrooms clean....basically, the kids have all the jobs that fall below the other folks pay grades, they perform the jobs no one else wants to do.

I completely agree. That sort of responsibility should be handed up. That’s shameful on Kroger’s behalf. Here in West Michigan, Meijer is the grocery store giant. At every entrance behind an easel that says, STOP! YOU CANNOT ENTER WITHOUT A MASK, is a formidable figure. Not some kid.

I prefer Meijer, they ALWAYS have the best produce, a huge meat selection including what I would call a "service meat" counter, the biggest and best selection of everything else. The only "problem" being, the nearest Meijer store is about 15 to 16 miles away.

Right now, my city is jumping! The State Park has a good amount of campers and the marina is full to capacity with the boaters. My guess is the campers and boaters are the biggest problem. All Kroger needs to do to eliminate the problem is to hire a uniformed security guard to staff the front door. BAM! Problem solved.

Bella, I wonder if their corporate thought on that is that the kids won't get into physical altercations with the customers which of course no company wants. Perhaps the company thinks that there might be a certain amount of "mask shaming" by other customers and if a customer does push by perhaps there's a second level of security (management) to deal with the assholes.
Dgraff I'm pretty sure that if you were standing at the door there would be a very high level of compliance!
A store is private property and if they say to wear a mask and you don't they do have a right to toss you out on your ass. I don't know why people don't get that.

Couldn't agree more - its the same thing here - there is a section of the community that is super anti mask and I witnessed some very intimidating behavior on a young Walgreens employee yesterday. I suggested he might be taking his issue out on the wrong person this poor girl didn't make the rule, he started yelling about what a sheep I was. Just replied that I cant afford a 5 figure hospital bill and this is my $5 insurance policy. He stormed out - poor girl was in tears

I am not personally fond of leopoldij, either, however personal opinions/feelings should never factor into the equation of whether a member should be referred to the Evaluation Panel and/or deleted. Facts are facts and speak for themselves. My guess is that there were no facts to support the claim and admin dismissed the referral.

Funny! 1 of my besties (yes, I have 2, both female coincidentally 🤔 ) is a gearhead.
