Terrible news from Florida today re the gay nightclub murders. Another nutter goes on the rampage, I'll never understand this crazy world we have to live in. My heart and ALL my sympathy go out to the victims and their families
I hope the gay and lesbian community realize this was not an attack on them. This was another attack on the US against us as Americans. This was just another tactical and strategic attack. The communist want chaos amongst Americans. Turning us against each other. Shame on the FBI for knowing what they did on this guy and not watching a little better.
What's with the 'nude restaurant' crap that's become fashionable? Paying mega bucks to be obliged to wear paper panties, forbidden from talking to other patrons... read about one today where you're not allowed in if you're overweight, meals served by men wearing nappies. Am I odd, or is this just another trendy wankfest? Why the hell would you want to blow your money...? The food would want to be effing good, is all I can say,
It seems to be an international chain - this one was in Japan I think. They have some sort of weight for height or weight for age quota from memory... It all sounds a bit Tense and Unpleasant and Expensive to me.
I can't see how that could pass with the Health Dept. Do they clean the snail trail off the seats before you are seated. Sitting in a strangers bodily fluids can't be a good thing.
If I correctly understood the post, ALL patrons would be required to wear paper panties ( no snail trails left behind ) and the servers wear nappies, the term equivalent to our term for diaper ( to avoid any complaints about hair in food ).
I did something tonight I haven't done in many years. I watched the news. 2 c hildren, 2 and 3 years old suffocated to death by their mother. Another man leaving a restaurant shot dead for his wallet. A local sherrif deputy arrested for c hild pornography. 2 bodies found dumped in the everglades eatean by alligators. A murder and suicide from a husband against his wife. And a woman r aped in Miami beach. That was all in the first 5 minutes. WTF does this shit go on every where? I hope I don't catch the news for another 3 years.
In a large country you can always find enough of good and bad things happening. Media mostly show what people better react to. It's alarming that too many people better react to negative things.
On the other hand, if my neighbor has gone on a shooting spree I really want to know about it. That kind of information can keep me safe.
If he has gone on a puppy hugging spree, as much as I like puppies, I really don't care.
Yeah, that's kind of what I wanted to say. If Lassie came home after 6 months on the road, or Mrs. Miller's cat finally came down out of the tree, or the guy across town had a litter of 11 LabraDoodles, you probably think who the fu@k cares and that would cause you not to want to watch the news, too.
To each their own. I've seen enough bad things in my life. I choose to keep positivity around me now. I don't need the news to remind me there are bad guys out there.
I understand how you feel however how are you ever going to know whether you/your family are in any peril if you don't watch, listen to or read the news? Is there any part of the news you do pay attention to?
Not sure why do you think news and reporters can be trusted more than people you know.
Anyway, my point was - if there is anything important someone will tell you and then you can go on internet or grab a newspaper or turn on your TV and read/see all about it. This has nothing to do with believing everything you hear.
If I was the lion I would eat all their asses too for being so stupid to enter the lions den. --------------------------------------- added after 46 seconds
Okay, I'm not one to call the police for every little thing BUT, in my little town, there are 2 rather large orange diamond shaped signs posted at the road that read;
PRESCRIBED BURN AHEAD
I know they start controlled fires on the west coast to stop raging fires but I live in Michigan along Lake St. Clair, I have no idea what a "prescribed burn" is.
A prescribed burn and a controlled burn are exactly the same thing.
From what I have heard it is just a difference in the wording in different parts of the country.
But there's nothing to burn in my town. In November there's a lot of leaf burning but other than that we're not burning a darn thing. Don't make me call the local police non emergency line!
The burns are done down here to control vegetation. Sometimes over growth is harmful to native plants and the a nimals that eat them. Also disease sets in and burning creates fresh new vegetation.
Actually, that makes sense for around here HOWEVER, it would make more sense if it were posted around the marsh area and not as I've seen these signs, in residential areas along the lake and river.
Unless a manager is asking me to do extra work,I do my hours per day and gtfo asap...if you are on a salary you lose out doing the extra mile stuff for your company,my company doesn't give a shit about me,so why put off your vacation/holiday just for a few brownie points ?...
I have my work to do,I don't do extra work within my normal responsibilities ....Remember all the "P's" ...Proper planning prevents piss poor performance ....
If I'm doing any extra work,I make sure I get paid for it...so that would be overtime. So if a manager comes to me and says 'you have to do this' If it interferes with my tasks I simply tell them to find someone else...managers only lay blame at others,I very rarely see a manager say 'I fucked up'...so I don't do others jobs for them...if they ask for my input I will give it,I just do what I'm hired to do..
I find it difficult and often detrimental to future work performance evaluations if I attempt to reject additional assignments being delegated.
Many job descriptions indicate that responsibilities include a, b, c, d but are not limited to those responsibilities. It's a catch 22 situation, you can attempt to say 'no' and still be given the assignment or you can take it and complete it satisfactorily.
Hell a vacation. I have to fight for 1 day off, Literally. Now we have to put the paperwork in to ask for Saturday and Sunday's off. I asked for a Fri, Sat, and Sun off in June 2 months ago. And I still have to hear shit about it everyday.
I think it would benefit you if the USA joined the EU. That way, we could leave, and you can have the Working Time Directive. 37.5 hours a week suit you? I'M ONLY JOKING! Or am I?
milesb, for a NUMBER of years we were at work from 07:00 to 15:00 or 08:30 to 16:30 ( or every quarter hour/half hour in between ) and were paid 37.75 hours. Then a few years back, somebody decided we needed extra time for lunch ( which is already unpaid ) and we needed to work the full 40 hours. Ugh! So now we start at 07:00 and the day ends at 15:30 and every quarter hour/half hour/on the hour all the way to 08:30. So we are there an extra 2.5 hours per week but get paid an extra 1.25 hours for a full 40 hours per week. Cuckoo!
And the sad thing is, I still hear my peer members say that they've got too much work to do to take time off.
Usually, I have no problem taking time off, it's when I return that makes me "sick".
I worked for E...D...S in the UK for 8 years. That is why I wouldn't piss on a manager if he was on fire. I say 'he', because our women managers were so much more human. Fair play, humanity, understanding, empathy, time off for your Aunt's funeral... I'm glad they 'let me go'. An opportunity to find something else. Which I did! Thank you, H....P!
We are on call 24/7 besides our normal work week which usually consist of 6 sometimes 7 days a week. It's normal for us to have a 80 to 90 hour work week. I have worked as many as 135 hours in one week during hurricanes. But we get paid really good for the overtime.
countryboy!!!!!! I did the math, there's only 168 hours in a week and if you worked 135, that leaves only 33 hours left. You average 33 hours over a 7 day period, that's giving you slightly more than 4 hours per day to rest and regenerate your body and mind for the next grueling days work.
This is a sincere question; does your overtime earnings give you more pleasure than your "free time"?
That is correct. I was only home 1 night, a Tuesday to s-leep in my own bed. This job is not for everyone. We double our salary just in overtime every year. I still take 2 full weeks vacation a year and at least one 3 day weekend getaway, sometimes 2 or 3. But my kids our grown and I don't need to be there to hold their hand anymore. So at this point of my life I can work these hours to put away for the future. Until my body says no more, or my wife says no more. I will take it when I can get it. But you do have to find that fine line of what your body and mind can take. Most people can't believe that you can stay awake the hours we do. But it's common for me to be on the clock for for 36 to 40 hours with no s-leep. But again I do this now while I can. It's not for everyone. And yes it pays very well. That's why we do it.
I haven't had a vacation in a year and a half. My company has so many blackout periods that planning one is practically impossible. Plus no good vacation goes unpunished either so what I have to deal with when I return just isn't worth the time I had off
I hope everyone was able to see Santana last night at the NBA finals and Metallica tonight at the NHL finals play the National Anthem. What a awesome display of guitar skills. But still nothing compares to when Jimmy Hendricks did it.
The San Francisco Giants once a year have a Metallica night. I went last year and they played the anthem and some other fun things throughout the game. But yes nobody will ever do it like Jimmy.
Since the Hungry, Hungry Hippo seems to be away, let's have some fun with letters.
Using the letters in his name, CLINT EASTWOOD, see if you are able to use ALL the letters and make 3 distinct words! Have fun with this!
If he has gone on a puppy hugging spree, as much as I like puppies, I really don't care.
Chicken Little likes to walk in the woods. She likes to look at the trees. She likes to smell the flowers. She likes to listen to the birds singing.
One day while she is walking an acorn falls from a tree, and hits the top of her little head.
- My, oh, my, the sky is falling. I must run and tell the lion about it, - says Chicken Little and begins to run.
She runs and runs. By and by she meets the hen.
- Where are you going? - asks the hen.
- Oh, Henny Penny, the sky is falling and I am going to the lion to tell him about it.
- How do you know it? - asks Henny Penny.
- It hit me on the head, so I know it must be so, - says Chicken Little.
- Let me go with you! - says Henny Penny. - Run, run.
So the two run and run until they meet Ducky Lucky.
- The sky is falling, - says Henny Penny. - We are going to the lion to tell him about it.
- How do you know that? - asks Ducky Lucky.
- It hit Chicken Little on the head, - says Henny Penny.
- May I come with you? - asks Ducky Lucky.
- Come, - says Henny Penny.
So all three of them run on and on until they meet Foxey Loxey.
- Where are you going? - asks Foxey Loxey.
- The sky is falling and we are going to the lion to tell him about it, - says Ducky Lucky.
- Do you know where he lives? - asks the fox.
- I don't, - says Chicken Little.
- I don't, - says Henny Penny.
- I don't, - says Ducky Lucky.
- I do, - says Foxey Loxey. - Come with me and I can show you the way.
He walks on and on until he comes to his den.
- Come right in, - says Foxey Loxey.
They all go in, but they never, never come out again.
The moral of the story, you can't believe everything you hear!
