I just don't understand this world and why oh why we can't all live peacefully with each other though politics and religion are the ones to blame. Now another nutter has shot and killed nine people in the lovely city of Munich in Germany before escaping justice by killing himself. Another tragedy and another one too many.

The word for today was "fair", an interesting word with several meanings, it just depends on how you use it in a sentence.

FAIR

1) equitable treatment
2) light complected
3) a State Fair, County Fair, Street Fair, it's difficult for ME to put into words; a gathering of people.

I hope that the word man can help me out with #3. Dang! I'm glad I am not required to explain to someone who is not familiar with the English language what "fair" means because I would totally screw them up.
By #460385 12,Jul,16 22:28
Equitable treatment = Equality for all. Light complected = White cracker. State Fair = Carnival, amusements, corn dogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes, rides.

I entered my wifes pic in the "Pic Of The Month" contest for the first time ever. I just noticed not only does my wife have a negative vote some of the girls have 2,3,4, and 5 negative votes. Is that really necessary. I don't see why you need to vote negative against anyone. Vote hot for the pics you like and leave the rest alone. This is the negative shit that makes people not want to enter these contest and continue to upload pics of themselves. If you are brave enough to show your body to the world, that is a feat in its self. I guess some really take these games and contest seriously. And I'm not bitching for just my wife but for all the girls entered. And whoever is voting negatively against these girls, deep down you probably are wishing you could have a girl as beautiful as them.
By milesbferry [Ignore] 01,Jul,16 19:42 other posts
Perhaps your very attractive wive could enter her pics herself.
By #358797 01,Jul,16 19:59
They share a profile, doofus.
By JustWill [Ignore] 01,Jul,16 20:50 other posts
Y'know, the word "doofus" just doesn't get used enough around these parts...
By #358797 01,Jul,16 22:14
Agreed.
By #460385 01,Jul,16 19:59
Would it have mattered who entered the pic? Would the outcome be any different?

Oh look at that. My wife has sent you your very own pic just from her.

Given the fact that there are actually so few "real" women on this site, you'd think that there would be more respect and support for the one's that we have!
By milesbferry [Ignore] 01,Jul,16 20:01 other posts
RESPECT! Given that I don't like Constable Countryboy, but fancy his wife, you can ...
By #358797 01,Jul,16 19:58
I do the pic of the month thing every other month... I've noticed it seems to be a ritual amongst those who enter... To downvote all the competition... It goes to the extreme on occasion too... I've seen angry women/men beg others to downvote those who are ahead of them...
It is kinda discouraging at times, but it is what it is... If you think the women's side of the contest is bad, try the male side once... I've seen pics with 100+ downvotes before.
By #494374 01,Jul,16 20:03
I proposed a few months back that the negative vote be taken off and just simply vote hot or dont vote at all. It ends up being a popularity contest and who can get the most friends to vote for their pic and vote against everyone else.
--------------------------------------- added after 15 minutes

I just looked at the contest and another certain hottie on here has a pic she put up that has been favorited almost 150 times and yet before i just voted it hot, it was a minus 2, like give me a break
By #358797 01,Jul,16 20:05
The downvote is kind of a necessary evil though.

I don't believe a negative vote in this contest should even be an option? What you think? Just our opinion
By **FlyingCum** [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 01:23 other posts
I agree with you however when I spoke to admin about this and he explained he would like the option there for when people spam other members with messages begging for votes. I didn't see it like that as I when I get this type of message I ignore them and choose not to vote. But voting negative has more of an affect at showing your displeasure. Those are my words, not admins.
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 04:49 other posts
I'm with you on that matter, big9.

I understand K315's post but in my mind, when I go to the election polls, I vote for the candidate that I want in office, not who I do not want, right? As for using the [NOT] vote against another member that has spammed you or to show displeasure toward those that beg for votes, why?
By #358797 02,Jul,16 05:31
Correct me if I'm wrong... But by voting for the one person you do want in office, you are voting against every one of the people you do not want as well...
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 10:01 other posts
Using that logic, Arexa, wouldn't it be just as easy to have only one option, [HOT] coupled with the voter being able to vote more than once?

It's awesome that there are SYD and SYC members who feel confident enough to enter their pictures in a monthly contest. A lack of votes should be a good enough indication of how well your picture is being accepted, should be adequate. Why would it be necessary to offer a [NOT] option?

Or in the way that admin's system is set up, thus far, 1) burning points is no longer anonymous AND it costs points 2) voting [NOT] on a daily upload picture, is not anonymous and it costs points SO why should casting a vote [NOT] vote on a Picture of the Month be anonymous or free?

That might be exactly how this contest should be tweaked, all [HOT] votes are free, all [NOT] votes are a cost of 5 points and the owner of the picture will be notified of the [NOT] vote and member. It might be nice to see if members would still be voting [NOT] if there's no anonymity behind their vote.
By #358797 02,Jul,16 15:01
Would it be just as easy? Probably, but that's too much fuckin positivity. We're adults, right? Shouldn't we be able to handle a downvote?
Every picture I've ever submitted in potm has gotten negative votes... it's a contest, not a therapy session. My confidence in myself is not affected by something so trivial.

Burning points isn't the same as a contest... I've always looked at point burning as a bitch slap. There's definitely some douchenuggets here who deserve it... And I've burnt the points of many assholes who I felt deserved it.
And voting on or against a daily upload post is different too. That is a reflection of personal opinion regarding the picture. It cost points to show appreciation and dissatisfaction. We can't all expect everyone to be satisfied with everything we do, or post, right?
And no, I don't think negatively voting in potm should cost points. After all, it is a contest, and the lack of cost to cast a vote is one of the things that keeps it interesting. If any aspect of in it had a cost, it'd discourage anyone from voting. Why should a entrant receive nothing but free positivity on their photo? Are they not level-headed enough to handle that someone thinks another photo is better? I understand the ego is a fragile thing, but damn.
And why should we know who voted negatively on a contest submission? Isn't that kinda unfair in a way? Being able to cast a vote in a contest is great, but when we start naming people who voted one way or the other, it's just an invasion of privacy... And since we seem to like comparing apples and oranges, would it be viewed as acceptable to give the winner of an election the names of everyone who voted for their opponents?
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 15:21 other posts
Should I anticipate that someone will be entering my picture in the Pic of the Month without my knowledge as some form of bitch slap for my opinions, Arexa?
By #358797 02,Jul,16 15:30
Always something to bitch about, isn't there?

On months I don't enter, I usually enter someone else... So far only one person has gotten sand in their vagina over it.
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 15:57 other posts
Read again, there was no bitching, I just stated my opinions.

Odd, to the best of my recollection, my picture was entered in a month that you were entered, too.
By #358797 02,Jul,16 17:08
I know when I enter myself.... There's a few other members who enter one of my pictures if they notice I don't have one in...
By mr_blue [Ignore] 03,Jul,16 13:59 other posts
Of course it was bitching.... it's what you do best...
Having an opinion means to give a view on something, you just complain that something needs to changed cuz it doesn't suit you...funny how you are so involved in a topic when you state you've never put a pic in 'potm'....so you are bitching...

Why don't you enter 'potm' send a pm to all your friends(over 400 members at least, that's a fucking joke in itself)
You can win easily then,or is that begging for votes and deemed pathetic ?
You can't win a contest without having competition, don't like downvotes don't play...same as all the other games...

And yeah,guess what, I'm bitching...
By mr_blue [Ignore] 03,Jul,16 14:01 other posts
I'm pretty sure arexa would just left a negative gift ..so you would have known you got bitch slapped...

In pic of the month you can vote for every pic, not just for 1. Actually, I don't have anything against the system you are proposing. I can change it to positive only with only one vote.

But as a result it will become even more like a political election rather than evaluation of the pics.
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 10:04 other posts
To admin, I like that we are able to vote for multiple members, I just am not convinced that the [NOT] option is useful.
By admin [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 14:14 other posts
Well, imagine if I remove it. People will still find something to bitch about it I'm sure, but it will all look stupid, because it's not gonna be my fault anymore.
By #358797 02,Jul,16 15:03
Damned if you do, damned if you don't, right?
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 15:12 other posts
To admin, I can't imagine how/why you think it would look or be "stupid" if the [NOT] voting option were removed. Would you please elaborate? Thank you.

True story, some time ago, I suggested that a new SYD member enter his picture in the Pic of the Month. He had been doing quite well as far as comments and votes with his recent uploads so this could be his next step. He told me absolutely not. He felt vulnerable, the entire idea that members could or would vote [NOT] gutted him and for that reason, he wasn't going to to take that chance.
By admin [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 15:32 other posts
Voting would not look stupid, but people's bitching about it would. Because they would still bitch but there would be no one else to blame for it but themselves.

I'm quite aware of human psychology and insecurities, and from a business point of view I should make this site all rainbows and unicorns, removing everything unpleasant. But I simply think it's a fraud and I should not peddle such illusions, despite that most others do this (facebook for example).

Also, did not you tell me once that my attempts to make this site all rainbows and unicorns make it boring? Why sudden change of heart? It will be more boring if I remove 'NOT', I assure you. And in the same time probably more annoying. You will probably beg me to do something about people begging for votes all over the site.
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 18:01 other posts
Oh, so I'm not the only person/member that notices that some members are inclined to beg for votes? Apparently, some members do not care if they look pathetic.
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 18:18 other posts
Yes, I made a statement about rainbows and unicorns and if I'm not mistaken, that sometimes we need bulldogs and thunderstorms to balance it out. Perhaps you will refresh my memory, in what post and context did I use that analogy in?

But it seems that you pick and choose what you want. You want everyone to be nice in public but then you are fine and promote negative voting. It seems like you're sending mixed messages.
By admin [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 19:04 other posts
Most of negative things are not free on this site, you have to spend points. So people usually think hard before using them. Speech is "free", so people abuse each other easily and without any profit to me.

Well, thinking of this, I should probably just make those negative votes cost points and introduce fines for cursing...
By JustWill [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 19:40 other posts
Ah, FUCK! Please don't do that!
By #460385 02,Jul,16 20:47
This was never started to attack administration over a contest. My original complaint again was towards the members doing the negative voting. We understand the game and that it can't be all positive all the time. All I asked was let us know who was doing it so we can return the favor. If you are gonna go all out on the positivity let's go all out on the negativity. We are notified when a member sends a gift, we are notified when a member votes for our pic. Why aren't we notified when a member votes down our pic. Maybe if we all know members will be notified when we jack them they will think twice about doing it knowing the favor will be returned.
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 21:42 other posts
I didn't view your initial comment or the subsequent comments made by different members to be an attack on admin.
By #358797 02,Jul,16 05:19
Looks like I'm the odd one out. Lol. I have no problem whatsoever with the not vote.
By #494374 02,Jul,16 09:06
Agree, my opinion as well Big9inch21

At countryboy, it's hard to believe that after 14 votes that Mrs. countryboy's Pic of the Month picture is just at a plus 2. Your pictures have always commanded much positive attention how is it even possible that she would receive 6 [NOT] votes?
By #460385 02,Jul,16 22:19
Exactly. We don't need a contest to tell us Casey's pics are enjoying. Thank you for noticing. That's why after 2 years we never entered the contest and probably won't again. That pic has over 3,000 views, over 100 comments, and 37 people have it in their favorites. Now in the contest it's getting negative votes.
By JustWill [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 23:21 other posts
The way I see it is that all of those negative votes are just a sign that the "competition" must feel very threatened by the pics they are down-voting. You and Mrs. Countryboy should take it as a sign that the owners of those other pics KNOW that she'll beat them unless they go to great lengths to eliminate her pics from the running. In the case of POM, negative votes are a compliment--voting down the best pics so that a lesser hoo-ha can claim the "prize".
By bella! [Ignore] 02,Jul,16 23:52 other posts
Yes, you probably are correct.

First it's the downvote and then toward the end of the month when it looks like the downvotes weren't quite enough, then it's the begging and bribery. Yeah, those are real admirable characteristics of a good competitor securing their win.
By #460385 03,Jul,16 00:09
Ha. Thank you Will. The word hoo-ha is very dear to us. We lost a friend at 38 years old with her 3rd battle of breast cancer last month. And that was the word she used to describe a females vagina. Hoo-ha.
