Today was Phoenix’s 18th consecutive day of temperatures
more than 110°F or 43°C. Fuuuuuuck. No thanks.
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 18,Jul,23 04:16 other posts
It's also well over 40°C (104°F) in Italy, Spain and Greece.
That's the new normal. It will get worse.

In The Netherlands, we are lucky this year. It only gets to about 25°C, for several weeks now, with some exceptions. That's actually normal, compared to summers up to 20 years ago. It's still very damp, so when I do some gardening, sweat pours out from everywhere, but that's better than suffering a heat stroke.

not much time to watch the video but just because they don't shut up doesn't mean I have to pay them any attention.

I just saw an interesting television commercial for Olive Garden restaurant, the commercial touted "homemade soup". Uh, I didn't think they made anything on the premises, that everything was trucked in and heated up.
By sherryann [Ignore] 16,Jul,23 21:31 other posts
I like the cream chicken soup they have bella! I never knew they made it homemade either. Olive Garden is good. I always get soup, breadsticks, salad & Lasagna.
By bella! [Ignore] 16,Jul,23 23:06 other posts
To maintain consistency, I always thought the BIG CHAIN restaurants have all their food prepared under one roof and trucked in to the individual locations.

I wonder if any member here has any knowledge of what goes on in the kitchens of the BIG CHAIN restaurants? By the way, I like soup and was not aware that Olive Garden offered cream of chicken soup. Yesterday, I got together with some friends from "the old neighborhood" and I had split pea soup. The soup was delicious however it was THICK like oatmeal and my cup had 1.5 bay leaves in it. Dang! When I was young and living at home, it always seemed that when my dad cooked and the recipe called for a bay leaf that darn bay leaf ended up on my plate and I found that gross!
By phart [Ignore] 16,Jul,23 23:48 other posts
everything is frozen and hauled in and heated almost like tv dinners.
a friend did some work for a manager of 1 of the restaurants and learned this from him.

that’s what I can send you for Christmas bay leaves 🍃
By sherryann [Ignore] 17,Jul,23 15:44 other posts
This post cuts off. They named it different it is cream soup with dumplings and veggies, very good. Never knew it was frozen stuff. I too like split pea soup, but not the places that add ham. Thick is good.

I watch some stuff on youtube sometimes and I don't get why this guy fakes this in the first place.
Twiddling a couple radio dials in the background and trying to make people think it is dead slaves talking?
Then explain why the voices are WHITE??????

I'm kinda liking the new car colors introduced this year (?). You know the earthy, flat/non metallic colors. I've seen beautiful a beautiful gray color, taupe and there's a cherry red I've seen on a Chevrolet Blazer. Do you like the new colors?
By dgraff [Ignore] 11,Jul,23 05:29 other posts
Yeah actually I do I’ve always liked a flat non glossy look flat black is my favorite I’ve always been low key and not looking to draw attention to my self and flat colors are the way to go
By bella! [Ignore] 11,Jul,23 07:17 other posts
The cars don't lack shine, they shine like crazy, they just don't sparkle. The new colors lack the "glitter" of the metallic so there is no sparkle.
By dgraff [Ignore] 11,Jul,23 08:19 other posts
Ford and Toyota have a flat grey color i really like its actually a paint that is not shiny I’ve even seen an orange color that is not shiny I find them appealing to me but I’m not a big fan of the new cars they are a bunch of plastic junk that won’t hold up I figured 10 years and they hit the scrap yard
By bella! [Ignore] 11,Jul,23 08:23 other posts
Really, Ford and Toyota have flat paint? Next time you see a car in the flat paint, snap a picture, I would like to see it.

Yes, it was a heartwarming story. Did you watch/listen to the short video? It was mentioned that that was an 8 ounce can of beer and did you notice that it did not have a pop top? Dang!

Huray for Farmers! I just wish State Farm would pull out. Everytime the wind blows down there my car insurance goes up to cover the cost. And I aint never even been to florida.

State farm has pulled from california and another company.

it only makes sense to get out of california, their nutty policys of not even clearing around power line right of ways has cost BILLIONS of dollars over the past several years. inexcusable.

If it will help folks understand the real issue, here is a link to the reasons companies just can't keep it up.
23 billion in debt? could YOUR company survive that?

By phart [Ignore] 14,Jul,23 16:50 other posts
It is sad that it is this way.
But as that 1 page explains ,alot of homes have been rebuilt MANY times, costing way more than they are worth. Why not rebuild the home on higher ground? Save the family the stress's of being homeless, and save money!

Yes,this weather sucks. I do a little outside work from 7 to 10 in the morning then I have to hide from it. Have a big box fan blowing on the dog to keep him cool in the shade.

Apparently, some folks in town will opt to use DoorDash to deliver their cold confections that they order from the local Dairy Queen. Really!?

How does the driver keep the icecream from melting??
I can understand a pizza staying warm for a while in a covered package or on a heat pad in the car but icecream?
By bella! [Ignore] 12,Jul,23 09:35 other posts
Yeah, I'm scratching my head on that one as well. In my opinion, Dairy Queen does not even sell "ice cream", it's a soft-serv "look alike-ish" substitute but it's NOT ICE CREAM. Perhaps I should test out the servive DoorDash provides by ordering 6 chocolate dipped vanilla cones and see what happens.

and not easy to get either, it is used in some mechanical repairs when bearings-bushings and shafts are installed in machinery.

Here, in Miami, dry ice is offered at all Publix supermarket stores

UM< Thanks for the tip. Sometimes in my repair work,I have situations it would help a bunch
By dgraff [Ignore] 12,Jul,23 19:54 other posts
I just throw the bearings in the freezer overnight and heat the housing a frozen bearing drops right in a heated housing
By phart [Ignore] 12,Jul,23 20:56 other posts
That is what I have done on alot of small stuff, but I may be working on something larger later on that won't fit in the freezer.
