Does anyone know how to UN-verify someone that you've verified ? The caveat is that that person has blacklisted me... I would not normally feel this way but as long as the member feels so negatively toward me and about me, I can't imagine that they would even want my name associated with them in any way. HELP! PLEASE?
This week, Detroit's 36th District Court imposed a ban on fragrance for employees as well as those conducting business there. No hairspray, no perfume, no lotion, no body oil, body wash, hand sanitizer...... Why? Because one court stenographer is sensitive to fragrances and wears a mask while on the job and in the courtroom! The crazy kicker is that she's a smoker!
How can you be sensitive to fragrances but not sensitive to the stink of smoke?
Reminds me of when I was working in hospitality, fucking restrictions on scents/aftershave ,nail length...hair,no chewing gum....yet clients would stink, and staff would have no way to get rid of the stench...you could literally taste some of these smelly so and so's...
I would liken the sensitivity of scents to an allergic reaction of some sort...where as smoke isn't affecting them like that.
Have you ever worked with or sat near a hardcore smoker? Frick! That's a for real STINK!
My stylist/haircutter is a smoker and the smell of cigarettes is all into her skin on her fingers. When I go in for a cut, her fingers are all around my head and nose....... YUCK!
When i was in school, i heard the steps of someone outside the classroom. I turned to the guy next to me and said "it's John". A few moments later, John enters the room. The guy was astonished. "How did you know?" "Well," I replied, "from the smell."
I was kind of sensitive to smells but John, in particular, stank. He had confessed to me he never opened his room windows (he was hypochondriac, afraid to catch a cold) and took a shower only when absolutely necessary, i.e., once he himself couldn't stand the stink.
His stench preceded him.. funny you mention the name John,I complained at work about a guy called John...are John's smelly everywhere ?...(apologies in advance to people named John)
Explain to her boss the fact you are not a smoker and the smell makes you feel ill.You are not lying to them, and if they value your custom they should be able to accommodate your request that your stylist shouldn't smell like an ashtray when dealing with customers.
seems easier if the stenographer was relocated into another department,I mean it's a courtroom ffs people are gonna be nervous in court, imagine all that funk building up from people's odours...
I wish I was able or knew how to attach the short television news report on this matter. The fragrance ban basically had to happen as this stenographer had sued the City of Detroit for the same issue. I'm not clear if her lawsuit was against the working conditions at 36th District Court however, she has received a $100,00.00 settlement from an already cash strapped city.
We can't turn back the tide so we are 'going to hell in a handcart. The ability of courts and other organisations to act sensibly has been repeatedly constrained by more and more resrictive legislation that defies common sense. Common sense says that if one person can't work within a particular environment for whatever reason you support them in finding a suitable alternative environment to work in, you do not punish everyone else.
I really do find the smell of smoking and smokers very unpleasant but this ruling and the compensation you mention is crazy. If they have passed the legislation to accomodate her allergy why does she get compensation AS WELL?
Thank you for finding and posting the short clip! It's sad that men not only have to empty their pockets and women have to surrender their purses prior to walking through a metal detector, BUT if you're packing a pen or pencil, that is immediately confiscated! I don't give two craps that attorneys are now required to pay for copies of documents made, those scoundrels charge for everything they do for you!
Man, you'd be lost in a courthouse here. Haha. No metal detectors, no real restrictions other than checking in your guns at the sheriff's office on the 2nd floor, which a good portion of folk don't even do cuz most offices are on the ground level.
When government regulates every aspect of people's lives, redistributes wealth for "the common good" and owns all property except may be personal possessions - it's called socialism.
When government regulates every aspect of people's lives and businesses which are still allowed to be privately owned nominally and redistributes wealth for "the common good" - it's usually called fascism.
There are also mixed forms when both private ownership is allowed but big enterprises are government-owned, or something like that, but that's not really important. Important part is that in all those regimes big government controls everything.
Hence your confusion. In several past decades governments all over the world were becoming more and more big and powerful and were getting more and more control over people's lives and businesses. So now you can't really tell what's the difference between "socialism" and "capitalism", because you are talking "apples and oranges" here. In fact you have different degrees of socialism and fascism and they are not so different.
Capitalism is not so much a political concept as an economic principle. It can be combined with many different political agendas. And those are what matters, not capitalism itself.
I could not have explained it any better, thank you for the concise break down.
There are very few if any true capitalist economies in the world today. There does not seem any desire for politicians to allow capitalism forms of government.
Sometimes the abuse report is against a longtime member who has perhaps made a recent 'mistake' with an image ot two. In that situation I would contact the reported member to advise them of the report. By freezing the report I could allow them time to log back in and take action, as sometimes a report is completed very quickly before the reported member has time to respond.
There may well be other situations where a rapid vote to delete would seem infair and a freeze would allow the reported member to take action. This of course does not apply to gratuitous violation of site rules.
In the spirit of complete openeness I imagine I have frozen maybe 2 reports.
I understand that. But wouldn't you vote to not delete that member as you freeze the report. I was saying why would someone vote to delete a member then freeze the report?
Honestly, I don't ever recall seeing that particular member voting prior to yesterday. Perhaps he didn't understand the "freeze" button or concept. You know how you guys are, you're all about gadgets, buttons....technology! He probably to see what happened and it "worked". WHOMP! There it is, a post about him in the forum!
So for 155 points we can see the whole package. Maybe if we make it an even 200 points she'll shove a big dildo up her ass. Like Bella said a "package deal".

You'll have to excuse my weird sense of humor. It's slightly easier to pick up on in real life or if you know me really well, but I randomly act like I'm dumb just to amuse myself.
For example...
countryboy54 - RBTL? What does the Rochester Broadway Theatre League have to do with anything?!
How can you be sensitive to fragrances but not sensitive to the stink of smoke?
Seriously, what doesn't have fragrance?

But I do work with some smelly people, I've even complained about it, like I mentioned, some people smell so bad you can taste it

I think y'all are on to something...

Probably trying to lure in the ladies. Didn't work.
I can only seem to remember your reactions to my cock. I'm sure you've noticed how bad my memory is by now...

I get the impression that the real ladies here are usually waaaay smarter than the guys.
Once titty and who-ha pics (or, in some cases, huge disembodied wangers) enter the picture--most of the guys seem to shut off their brains.
The ladies aren't such easily lured suckers!
