If he wants to appeal his case, he has to put up the exact amount he owes,
including interest, to delay him having to pay up, or his assets getting seized,
if he can't pay.
A bond like that, has been the status quo in every big case against companies. In cases like that, bonds can go up to billions of dollars. The difference is that other companies don't cry about it, but just put up the bond that the usually have already reserved.
To those companies, it would be perceived as a big PR mistake to complain about the height of the bond. They just act like a few billion dollars is just a tiny fraction of their working cash flow. Apparently, Trump is not as wealthy as he's always bragging he is.
