Some really neat photos showing the reality of the mid to late 30's for ALL races of people. I guess I can say I have inherited some of the "white privilege" shown here as my mother hoed cotton as a little girl until she got married at 16. She still had her hoe when she died ,it was out in the shed but it got stolen before I was able to save much of her stuff. It was worn down to about half it's size from new.

All countries and regimes that have ever called themselves socialist, have not even come close. They were either still very much capitalist, with authoritarian leadership or communist with authoritarian leadership. The authoritarianism was the problem, every time countries are failing. You are the one supporting authoritarianism, I'm not.
No country has ever come close to the actual socialism that I am supporting.
I support a system of full democratic control, on top of full public ownership. And with public ownership, I'm not referring to government ownership, that's communism, I'm referring to shared ownership for everyone, providing the benefits of that ownership to everyone. And not in an individualist way, like you think, but in a cooperative way. Then it's not one wealthy guy deciding to put shareholder money into electric cars one day and into a social media app the other day, it's where everyone invests in publicly owned, democratically controlled banks, that invest public money in what everyone who has a stake in that bank decides together is worth investing money into. That's the people's capital going to the people's priorities.
The closest that countries has ever come to that system are the Scandinavian countries. They are still very much capitalist, but they have the most socialism on top of that. The Scandinavian countries are doing great and the people do much better than Americans.
Indeed, capitalism has MADE your country what it is today. A country with a tiny group of very wealthy people who control everything and make it very tough for everyone else. It's what causes all the mental illness, mass murders, crime, addiction, suicide, poverty, obesity, diabetes, hate and stupid people in your country. Your pride of your country is only based on being a superpower and having the wealthiest billionaires. That's not helping to creating a better life for Americans.
You are fooling yourself by comparing your country to the worst regimes that have ever existed. That's a very low bar. I'm comparing my country to the best society that would ever be possible, a society based on human dignity, equality and solidarity. I would define it as having so much money that it is as good as impossible
to spend it all on a fantastic house, a few sports cars and a luxurious lifestyle.
Above 50 billion, I would define that as ultra wealthy.
So Bill Gates is ultra wealthy.
I would call someone rich, when they can just buy a large detached house in an expensive neighborhood, without needing a mortgage. I would call someone very rich, if they have enough assets to maintain the lifestyle of that rich person, for decades, without needing income the rest of their life.
By the way, I define being poor as struggling to pay the bills, while living under the lowest standards of luxury and just being able to provide the basic necessities of life. People who cannot provide their own basic necessities of life are called 'destitute', but that's just an official definition that I subscribe to.

It happened because family invested in the company as they worked there. Something every American as a option of doing. working for a employer that they can reinvest in and grow right along with it.
Being able to afford a house without a mortage could simply be because family worked hard for generations and left it to the kids to better their lives. Deserved and earned,It cost them the lives of their loved 1's.

If that is, because you already fully own something worth the value of such a house I described, I call that being rich. However, in my definition is included that you would be able to live there indefinitely, under at least the medium standards of luxury, not owning such a house and struggle to put food on the table.
