For the same reason people in Chicago want to leave. Violence, persecution, lack of income. Just because a city is prosperous doesn’t mean there isn’t an underbelly too. Are they as prosperous as LA or NY? No, but, remember, these people come knowing full well they will be working in menial jobs, looking out for the law, and having few safety nets.
