I don't know if this is normal or not, but I like to masturbate in bed at night after my wife goes to ****, unless she is interested in sex, which is not very often. Your point is very well taken. In a healthy marriage both partners should be able to openly and comfortably discuss sexual needs. They should have partnered sex, but self pleasure should also be part of the mix. And each should be frank enough to say so.
