I was off SYD last week as I had workmen here putting new laminated floors down in my living room and bedroom so I haven't mentioned Glenda's passing at age 87 until now. One of the great actresses of her generation and a damn good Labour MP too, winner of two Oscars for "Women in Love" in 1969 and "A Touch of Class" in 1973 and magnificent as Elizabeth 1 in the 1971 t.v. series "Elizabeth R". A lifelong socialist, she refused to accept a Damehood and that was in the days before this lying oaf Boris Barmy Johnson took them into disrepute. Also yesterday it was announced that Angela Thorne had passed away at the age of 84, she will best be remembered for playing Marjory, friend to Penelope Keith's Audrey in the t.v. comedy series "To the Manor Born" between 1979 and 1981 and for playing the Wicked Witch of the West on stage in the play "Anyone for Dennis?" Also guest starred in several t.v. drama series, e.g. "Midsomer Murders" and was the mother of actors Rupert Penry-Jones and his lesser known brother Laurence. R.I.P. both.

I remember both fondly. They were good actresses. The series were also great programming. I remember “To The Manor Born” the most. RIP Glenda and Angela.
