What's a SWEETHEART Like You Doing in a Place Like This (Bob Dylan)
only registered users can see external links Well, the pressure’s down, the boss ain't here He gone North, for a while They say that vanity got the best of him But he sure left here in style By the way, that’s a cute hat And that smile’s so hard to resist But what’s a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this? You know, I once knew a woman who looked like you She wanted a whole man, not just a half She used to call me sweet daddy when I was only a child You kind of remind me of her when you laugh In order to deal in this game, got to make the queen disappear It’s done with a flick of the wrist What’s a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this? You know, a woman like you should be at home That’s where you belong Watching out for someone who loves you true Who would never do you wrong Just how much abuse will you be able to take? Well, there’s no way to tell by that first kiss What’s a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this? You know you can make a name for yourself You can hear them tires squeal You can be known as the most beautiful woman Who ever crawled across cut glass to make a deal You know, news of you has come down the line Even before you came in the door They say in your father’s house, there’s many mansions Each one of them got a fireproof floor Snap out of it, baby, people are jealous of you They smile to your face, but behind your back they hiss What’s a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this? Got to be an important person to be in here, honey Got to have done some evil deed Got to have your own harem when you come in the door Got to play your harp until your lips bleed They say that patriotism is the last refuge To which a scoundrel clings Steal a little and they throw you in jail Steal a lot and they make you king There’s only one step down from here, baby It’s called the land of permanent bliss What’s a sweetheart like you doing in a dump like this? |
Strawberry Wine - The Band
only registered users can see external links I would try my finger and I would try my hand At any fool game in this man's land But don't you talk about this-a friend of mine, I ain't never been let down and you'd be wastin' time. I would scratch and steal, I would maim a man, I would even run the bounty across the other country, So don't you talk about this here friend of mine, I gave it all of my money, but it makes me feel fine. Yeah, I know you won't give me no peace of mind, Try to understand I just wanna feel good all the time. Don't you talk about a dear old friend of mine, Well, I know that you are sweet and more than double fine. Everybody said you oughta marry that rich man down the line, But if I had to make a choice I wouldn't change my mind. Honey, you just ain't as sweet as my strawberry wine. Yeah, You caught me when I's down a-sleepin' in the park, Climbin' up the walls and laughin' in the dark. But I heard you been talkin' about a dear old friend of mine, Never tasted anything as sweet as my strawberry wine. |
My post did not say something else. Possibly English is your second language and you missed the sarcasm in my original post. This is the second time I have posted something on this topic and the second time you have misunderstood my point.
As I said, Trump repeatedly broke the rules of the court and the judge was unacceptably lenient on him. It was suggested that the judge was bias, presumably slanted against Trump, and my suggestion that he was biased towards Trump by being so lenient was, as I say, sarcastic. It may be that Merchan is saving the big blow for the conviction, but I do think intimidation is at play. Trump and his followers have no respect for the process of law, and the threats of violence if he were imprisoned are real. Actually, I think it would be best if he did not receive a prison sentence for these crimes. The Georgia and January 6 cases are much more serious, and as long as he loses the election (fingers crossed) he should receive custodial sentences for them. |
No, read my post. Trump broke the rules of the court and the judge seems to have been excessively lenient. If you or I had spoken the way Trump did, we would have been imprisioned. |
Yes, I agree. The judge seems to have been very biased. If anyone else had broken the rules of the court so much they would certainly have received much harsher treatment. But then again, it may not be bias, just intimidation. |

If your mem'ry serves you well We were goin' to meet again and wait So I'm goin' to unpack all my things And sit before it gets too late No man alive will come to you With another tale to tell And you know that we shall meet again If your mem'ry serves you well The wheel's on fire Rolling down the road Best notify my next of kin This wheel shall explode If your mem'ry serves you well I was goin' to confiscate your lace And wrap it up in a sailor's knot And hide it in your case If I knew for sure that it was yours But it was, oh, so hard to tell And you know that we shall meet again If your mem'ry serves you well This wheel's on fire Rolling down the road Best notify my next of kin This wheel shall explode If your mem'ry serves you well You'll remember you're the one That called on me to call on them To get you your favors done And after ev'ry plan had failed And there was nothing more to tell You knew that we should meet again If your mem'ry served you well This wheel's on fire It's rolling down the road Best notify my next of kin That this wheel shall explode |
