R.I.P Leslie Phillips - British actor

I just saw that Leslie Phillips has passed away. He was a large part of my childhood with his many comedy films, including of course the carry on.. series and radio series as well 'The Navy Lark'.
He was known for catchphrases such as "Ding dong", "I say" and "Well, hello", which he delivered with suggestive intonation.

Yes very sad but 98 was a very good innings. I like that scene in the 1960 film "Carry On Constable" where he's the rookie cop on his first day making his way to work in full police uniform when he sees a bank robbery taking place. As the robbers are fleeing the scene, he goes up to one of them and says: "excuse me". "Yeah, what?" says one of the robbers. "Could you tell me the way to the police station, please?" asks Leslie. Hilarious! That film was also the first British film to feature male nudity but only from the rear when Leslie and some of the other cast members are in the showers. R.I.P. Leslie

Yes, I saw notice of his passing. I had seen Phillips in numerous movies and TV for many years. Young people wojld know him from Harry Potter.
