The other day, I posted something in another thread where I asked members what was the first word that popped into their head when they saw/heard the word "cheap"?
My first response was from
Whoknows and his reply was "perfume". That phrase, cheap perfume, made me instantly think of Journey's DON'T STOP BELIEVING. The post went in a different direction from what I planned but it was so much fun! Example, there were other responses to the word "cheap" that included shoddy, floozy and several more and
huxley999 was able to cite songs with those words in them!
Let's pick a RANDOM word and see if a song comes to mind. My guess is not every word will trigger a song to pop into our heads, but who knows. If you would kindly post a few lines of the song that reflects "the word", the name of the song and the artist and if you like, a YouTube link to the song. PLEASE ATTACH YOUR SONG TO THE PARTICULAR "WORD OF THE DAY".
Let's have some musical fun!

[Verse 1]
And the women tug their hair
Like they're trying to prove it won't fall out
And all the men are gargoyles
Dipped long in Irish stout
[Pre-Chorus 1]
The whole place is pickled
The people are pickles for sure
And no one knows if they've done more here
Than they ever would do in a jar
[Chorus]
This could be ROTTERDAM or anywhere
Liverpool or Rome
'Cause ROTTERDAM is anywhere
Anywhere alone
Anywhere alone
[Verse 2]
And everyone is blonde
And everyone is beautiful
And when blondes and beautiful are multiple
They become so dull and dutiful
[Pre-Chorus 2]
And when faced with dull and dutiful
They fire red warning flares
Battle khaki personality
With red underwear
[Chorus]
[Pre-Chorus 1]
[Chorus] x2
Anywhere alone
Anywhere alone
Anywhere alone, alone, alone...
This could be ROTTERDAM
Or anywhere
Liverpool or Rome
'Cause ROTTERDAM
Is anywhere
Alone
Alone, alone

Heart of Rome - Elvis

In a little while you're leavin'
Starting on the journey home
Soon I'll be alone, the one who loves you
La la la la la, somewhere in the heart of ROME
I'll make a wish in every fountain
Say a prayer that you'll return
Minutes I'll be counting
May the fire of love still burn
I'll keep your picture by my pillow
And pretend I'm not alone
Make believe that you are with me
La la la la la, in the heart of ROME
Suddenly the tears are falling
As we hear the whistle blow
Hold me very close before you leave me
La la la la la, somewhere in the heart of ROME
I'll make a wish in every fountain
Say a prayer that you'll return
Minutes I'll be counting
May the fire of love still burn
I'll keep your picture by my pillow
And pretend I'm not alone
Make believe that you are with me
La la la la la, in the heart of ROME
I'll make a wish in every fountain
Say a prayer that you'll return
Minutes I'll be counting
May the fire of love still burn
I'll keep your picture by my pillow
And pretend I'm not alone
Make believe that you are with me
La la la la la, in the heart of ROME

n the port of AMSTERDAM
There's a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings
From the wide open sea
In the port of AMSTERDAM
There's a sailor who sleeps
While the riverbank weeps
With the old willow tree
In the port of AMSTERDAM
There's a sailor who dies
Full of beer, full of cries
In a drunken down fight
And in the port of AMSTERDAM
There's a sailor who's born
On a muggy hot morn
By the dawn's early light
In the port of AMSTERDAM
Where the sailors all meet
There's a sailor who eats
Only fishheads and tails
He will show you his teeth
That have rotted too soon
That can swallow the moon
That can haul up the sails
And he yells to the cook
With his arms open wide
Bring me more fish
Put it down by my side
Then he wants so to belch
But he's too full to try
So he gets up and laughs
And he zips up his fly
In the port of AMSTERDAM
You can see sailors dance
Paunches bursting their pants
Grinding women to paunch
They've forgotten the tune
That their whiskey voice croaks
Splitting the night with the
Roar of their jokes
And they turn and they dance
And they laugh and they lust
Till the rancid sound of
The accordion bursts
Then out to the night
With their pride in their pants
With the slut that they tow
Underneath the street lamps
In the port of AMSTERDAM
There's a sailor who drinks
And he drinks and he drinks
And he drinks once again
He drinks to the health
Of the whores of AMSTERDAM
Who have promised their love
To a thousand other men
They've bargained their bodies
And their virtue long gone
For a few dirty coins
And when he can't go on
He plants his nose in the sky
And he wipes it up above
And he pisses like I cry
For an unfaithful love
In the port of AMSTERDAM
In the port of AMSTERDAM
They sentenced me to 20 years of boredom
For trying to change the system from within
I'm coming now, I'm coming to reward them
First we take Manhattan, then we take BERLIN
I'm guided by a signal in the heavens
I'm guided by this birthmark on my skin
I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I'd really like to live beside you, baby
I love your body and your spirit and your clothes
But you see that line there moving through the station?
I told you, I told you, told you I was one of those
Ah, you loved me as a loser, but now you're worried that I just might win
You know the way to stop me, but you don't have the discipline
How many nights I prayed for this, to let my work begin
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I don't like your fashion business, mister
And I don't like these drugs that keep you thin
I don't like what happened to my sister
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I'd really like to live beside you, baby
I love your body and your spirit and your clothes
But you see that line there moving through the station?
I told you, I told you, told you I was one of those
And I thank you for those items that you sent me, ha ha ha ha
The monkey and the plywood violin
I practiced every night, now I'm ready
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
Ah, remember me, I used to live for music
Remember me, I brought your groceries in
Well, it's Father's Day, and everybody's wounded
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

Why must we meet
In the shadows of PARIS
Where hardly a star seems to shine
Why can't we meet in the sunlight of PARIS
Where PARIS can see you're mine.
Have you come to me
From another
Whose lips you have tried
Do you still belong to another
Is that why we hide
Why am i cold
In the sunlight of PARIS
Whre laughter and songs fill the skies
Why am i warm in the shadows of PARIS
When i know that dawn means goodbye
Have you come to me from another
Whose lips you have tried
Do you still belong to another
Is that why we hide
Why am i cold in the sunlight of PARIS
Where laughter and songs fill the skies
Why am i warm in the shadows of PARIS
When i know that dawn means goodbye.

La place Rouge était vide
Devant moi marchait Nathalie
Il avait un joli nom, mon guide
Nathalie
La place Rouge était blanche
La neige faisait un tapis
Et je suivais par ce froid dimanche
Nathalie
Nathalie, Nathalie
Dans sa chambre à l'université
Une bande d'étudiants
L'attendait impatiemment
On a ri, on a beaucoup parlé
Ils voulaient tout savoir
Nathalie traduisait
MOSCOU, les plaines d'Ukraine (sic)
Et les Champs-Élysées
On a tout melangé
Et l'on a chanté
Et puis ils sont débouché
En riant à l'avance
Du champagne de France
Et l'on a dansé
Et quand la chambre fut vide
Tout les amis etaient partis
Je suis resté seul avec mon guide
Nathalie

Walking down the sidewalk on a purple afternoon
I was accosted by a barker playing a simple tune
Upon his flute, toot, toot, toot, toot
Silver rain was falling down
Upon the dirty ground of LONDON Town
People pass me by on my imaginary street
Ordinary people, it's impossible to meet
Holding conversations that are always incomplete
Well, I don't know
Oh, where are there places to go
Someone somewhere has to know
I don't know
Out of work again, the actor entertains his wife
With the same old stories of his ordinary life
Maybe he exaggerates the trouble and the strife
Well, I don't know
Oh, where are there places to go
Someone somewhere has to know
Crawling down the pavement on a Sunday afternoon
I was arrested by a rozzer wearing a pink balloon
About his foot, toot, toot, toot, toot
Silver rain was falling down
Upon the dirty ground of LONDON Town
Someone somewhere has to know
Silver rain was falling down
Upon the dirty ground of LONDON Town

Paris by night, regagne les cars

I said: Hey now
All through this green and pleasant land.

In DUBLIN's fair city, where the girls are so pretty
I first laid my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheel barrow
Through the streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles and mussels, alive, alive oh
Alive, alive oh
Alive, alive oh
Crying cockles
And mussels alive, alive oh
She was a fishmonger and sure it was no wonder
For so was her father and mother before
And they all wheeled their barrows
Through the streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive oh
Alive, alive oh
Alive alive oh
Crying cockles
And mussels alive, alive oh
She died of a fever and no one could save her
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone
Now her ghost wheels her barrow
Through the streets broad and narrow
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive oh.

There is a PLACE
Where I can go
When I feel low
When I feel blue
And it's my mind
And there's no time when I'm alone
I think of you
And things you do
Go 'round my head
The things you said
Like "I love only you"
In my mind there's no sorrow
Don't you know that it's so
There'll be no sad tomorrow
Don't you know that it's so
There is a PLACE
Where I can go
When I feel low
When I feel blue
And it's my mind
And there's no time when I'm alone
There's a PLACE

Meet you downstairs in the bar and hurt,
Your rolled up sleeves in your skull t-shirt,
You say "what did you do with him today?",
And sniffed me out like I was Tanqueray,
'Cause you're my fella, my guy,
Hand me your stella and fly,
By the time I'm out the door,
You tear men down like Roger Moore,
I cheated myself,
Like I knew I would,
I told you I was trouble,
You know that I'm no good,
Upstairs in bed, with my ex boy,
He's in a PLACE, but I can't get joy,
Thinking on you in the final throes,
This is when my buzzer goes,
Run out to meet you, chips and pitta,
You say 'when we married",
'cause you're not bitter,
"There'll be none of him no more,"
I cried for you on the kitchen floor,
I cheated myself,
Like I knew I would,
I told you I was trouble,
You know that I'm no good,
Sweet reunion, Jamaica and Spain,
We're like how we were again,
I'm in the tub, you on the seat,
Lick your lips as I soak my feet,
Then you notice little carpet burn,
My stomach drops and my guts churn,
You shrug and it's the worst,
Who truly stuck the knife in first
I cheated myself,
Like I knew I would
I told you I was trouble,
You know that I'm no good,
I cheated myself,
Like I knew I would
I told you I was trouble,
Yeah, you know that I'm no good.

There are PLACES I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone, and some remain
All these PLACES had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead, and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I'll love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a PLACE for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home
And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a PLACE for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Hide it in the hiding PLACE where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret just the Robinson's affair
Most of all you've got to hide it from the kids
Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Whoa, whoa, whoa
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a PLACE for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates' debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Every way you look at this you lose
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Woo, woo, woo
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
Jolting Joe has left and gone away
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey

You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love but confess
You've been a'messin' where you shouldn't 've been a'messin'
And now someone else is getting all your best
THESE boots are made for walking
And that's just what they'll do
One of THESE days THESE boots are gonna walk all over you
You keep lyin' when you oughta be truthin'
You keep losing when you oughta not bet
You keep samin' when you oughta be a'changin'
Now what's right is right but you ain't been right yet
THESE boots are made for walking
And that's just what they'll do
One of THESE days THESE boots are gonna walk all over you
You keep playing where you shouldn't be playing
And you keep thinking that you'll never get burnt (HAH)
I just found me a brand new box of matches (YEAH)
And what he knows you ain't had time to learn
THESE boots are made for walking,
And that's just what they'll do
One of THESE days THESE boots are gonna walk all over you
Are you ready, boots? Start walkin'

Well I've been out walking
I don't do that much talking these days
These days
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
Nd all the times I had the chance to
And I had a lover
I don't think I'll risk another these days
These days
Now if I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
Well it's just cause I've been losing so long
I quit my scheming
I don't do all that dreaming these days
These days
These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten
Don't confront me with my failures
I have not forgotten them

On days like THESE when skies are blue and fields are green
I look around and think about what might have been
And then I hear sweet music float around my head
As I recall the many things we left unsaid
And its on days like THESE that I remember
Singing songs and drinking wine
While your eyes play games with mine
On days like THESE I wonder what became of you
Maybe today you are singing songs with someone new
I'd like to think you're walking by those willow trees
Remembering the lovely youth on days like THESE

On a houseboat
Just a mile and a half from the big smoke
I've got myself together now
I like my new place
Street is kinda quiet but it don't make waves

Like I did like you did like...

I hear the train a comin'
It's rollin' 'round the bend,
And I ain't seen the sunshine
Since, I don't know when
I'm stuck in Folsom Prison
And time keeps draggin' on
But that train keeps a-rollin'
On down to San Antone
When I was just a baby
My Mama told me, "Son
Always be a good boy
Don't ever play with guns, "
But I SHOT a man in Reno
Just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowin'
I hang my head and cry
I bet there's rich folks eatin'
In a fancy dining car
They're probably drinkin' coffee
And smokin' big cigars
But I know I had it comin'
I know I can't be free
But those people keep a-movin'
And that's what tortures me
Well, if they freed me from this prison
If that railroad train was mine
I bet I'd move out over a little
Farther down the line
Far from Folsom Prison
That's where I want to stay
And I'd let that lonesome whistle
Blow my blues away

Frankie and me we were lovers
Oh Lordy how we could love
Swore we'd be true to each other
Just as true as stars above
I was her man, she caught me doing her wrong
My luck in poker was fading
When a new gal caught my eye
I gambled, I tried to change my luck
With a chick named Nellie Bly
I was Frankie's man but I was doing her wrong
Yeah! Frankie came looking to find me
Yes, she wasn't looking for fun
For in her sweet loving hand
She was totin' a 44 gun
To SHOOT her man if he was doin' her wrong
Well Frankie walked into the bar room
And right there in front of her eyes
There was her loving johnny
Making love to that Nellie Bly
I was her man, she caught me doing her wrong
Frankie, I beg, please don't SHOOT me
Well they'll put you away in a cell
You know they'll put your where the cold wind blows
From the hottest corner in hell
I'm your man, I know I done you wrong
Easy on the roll, real easy
Easy on the roll, real slow
Roll me over real gently
'cause my wound hurts me so
Well I was her man
Well I done her wrong
Well Frankie told johnny
Well this is the end of my song
I was her man, well I done her wrong
Well , hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Done her wrong

Now somewhere in the Black Mountain Hills of Dakota
There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young Rocky in the eye
Rocky didn't like that
He said, "I'm gonna get that boy"
So one day he walked into town
Booked himself a room in the local saloon
Rocky Raccoon checked into his room
Only to find Gideon's Bible
Rocky had come, equipped with a gun
To shoot off the legs of his rival
His rival it seems, had broken his dreams
By stealing the girl of his fancy
Her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy
Now she and her man, who called himself Dan
Were in the next room at the hoe down
Rocky burst in, and grinning a grin
He said, "Danny boy, this is a showdown"
But Daniel was hot, he drew first and SHOT
And Rocky collapsed in the corner
Now the doctor came in, stinking of gin
And proceeded to lie on the table
He said, "Rocky, you met your match"
And Rocky said, "Doc, it's only a scratch
And I'll be better, I'll be better, Doc, as soon as I am able"
Now Rocky Raccoon, he fell back in his room
Only to find Gideon's Bible
Gideon checked out, and he left it, no doubt
To help with good Rocky's revival

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
ABOVE us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today... Aha-ah...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace... You...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world... You...

Up ABOVE my head there is music in the air
Up above my head there is music in the air
Up above my head there is music in the air, oh yeah!
And I really do believe, I really do believe
I really do believe there's a heaven somewhere
There's a heaven somewhere
The pale moon rose in its glory
Out on the Western town
She told a sad, sad story
Of the great ship that went down
It was the fourteenth day of April
Over the waves she rode
Sailing into tomorrow
To a golden age foretold
The night was black with starlight
The seas were sharp and clear
Moving through the shadows
The promised hour was near
Lights were holding steady
Gliding over the foam
All the lords and ladies
Heading for their eternal home
The chandeliers were swaying
From the balustrades above
The orchestra was playing
Songs of faded love
The watchman, he lay dreaming
As the ballroom dancers twirled
He dreamed the Titanic was sinking
Into the underworld
Leo took his sketchbook
He was often so inclined
He closed his eyes and painted
The scenery in his mind
Cupid struck his bosom
And broke it with a snap
The closest woman to him
He fell into her lap
He heard a loud commotion
Something sounded wrong
His inner spirit was saying
That he couldn't stand here long
He staggered to the quarterdeck
No time now to sleep
Water on the quarterdeck
Already three foot deep
Smokestack was leaning sideways
Heavy feet began to pound
He walked into the whirlwind
Sky splitting all around
The ship was going under
The universe had opened wide
The roll was called up yonder
The angels turned aside
Lights down in the hallway
Flickering dim and dull
Dead bodies already floating
In the double bottom hull
The engines then exploded
Propellers they failed to start
The boilers overloaded
The ship's bow split apart
Passengers were flying
Backward, forward, far and fast
They mumbled, fumbled, and tumbled
Each one more weary than the last
The veil was torn asunder
'Tween the hours of twelve and one
No change, no sudden wonder
Could undo what had been done
The watchman lay there dreaming
At forty five degrees
He dreamed that the Titanic was sinking
Dropping to her knees
Wellington he was sleeping
His bed began to slide
His valiant heart was beating
He pushed the tables aside
Glass of shattered crystal
Lay scattered roundabout
He strapped on both his pistols
How long could he hold out?
His men and his companions
Were nowhere to be seen
In silence there he waited for
Time and space to intervene
The passageway was narrow
There was blackness in the air
He saw every kind of sorrow
Heard voices everywhere
Alarm-bells were ringing
To hold back the swelling tide
Friends and lovers clinging
To each other side by side
Mothers and their daughters
Descending down the stairs
Jumped into the icy waters
Love and pity sent their prayers
The rich man, Mister Astor
Kissed his darling wife
He had no way of knowing
It'd be the last trip of his life
Calvin, Blake and Wilson
Gambled in the dark
Not one of them would ever live to
Tell the tale on the disembark
Brother rose up 'gainst brother
In every circumstance
They fought and slaughtered each other
In a deadly dance
They lowered down the lifeboats
From the sinking wreck
There were traitors, there were turncoats
Broken backs and broken necks
The bishop left his cabin
To help others in need
Turned his eyes up to the heavens
Said, "The poor are yours to feed"
Davey the brothel-keeper
Came out dismissed his girls
Saw the water getting deeper
Saw the changing of his world
Jim Dandy smiled
He never learned to swim
Saw the little crippled child
And he gave his seat to him
He saw the starlight shining
Streaming from the East
Death was on the rampage
But his heart was now at peace
They battened down the hatches
But the hatches wouldn't hold
They drowned upon the staircase
Of brass and polished gold
Leo said to Cleo
I think I'm going mad
But he'd lost his mind already
Whatever mind he had
He tried to block the doorway
To save all those from harm
Blood from an open wound
Pouring down his arm
Petals fell from flowers
'Til all of them were gone
In the long and dreadful hours
The wizard's curse played on
The host was pouring brandy
He was going down slow
He stayed right to the end and he
Was the last to go
There were many, many others
Nameless here forever more
They never sailed the ocean
Or left their homes before
The watchman, he lay dreaming
The damage had been done
He dreamed the Titanic was sinking
And he tried to tell someone
The captain, barely breathing
Kneeling at the wheel
ABOVE him and beneath him
Fifty thousand tons of steel
He looked over at his compass
And he gazed into its face
Needle pointing downward
He knew he'd lost the race
In the dark illumination
He remembered bygone years
He read the Book of Revelation
And he filled his cup with tears
When the Reaper's task had ended
Sixteen hundred had gone to rest
The good, the bad, the rich, the poor
The loveliest and the best
They waited at the landing
And they tried to understand
But there is no understanding
On the judgment of God's hand
The news came over the wires
And struck with deadly force
Love had lost its fires
All things had run their course
The watchman he lay dreaming
Of all the things that can be
He dreamed the Titanic was sinking
Into the deep blue sea

We're walking in the air
We're floating in the moonlit sky
The people far below are sleeping as we fly
I'm holding very tight (I'm holding very tight)
I'm riding in the midnight blue (I'm riding in the midnight blue)
I'm finding I can fly so high ABOVE with you
(Riding in the midnight blue)
On across the world (on across the world)
The villages go by like dreams (the villages go by like dreams)
The rivers and the hills, the forests and the streams
Children gaze open mouthed
Taken by surprise
Nobody down below believes their eyes
We're surfing in the air (we're surfing in the air)
We're swimming in the frozen sky (we're swimming in the frozen sky)
We're drifting over icy mountains floating by
Suddenly swooping low
On an ocean deep
Rousing up a mighty monster from his sleep
And walking in the air
We're dancing in the midnight sky
And everyone who sees us greets us as we fly
We're walking in the air
We're walking in the air

Stars shining bright ABOVE you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me
Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Mad Season I’m Above🤘

You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it's only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It's physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that ooo
WHAT’S love got to do, got to do with it
WHAT’s love but a second hand emotion
WHAT’S love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
It may seem to you that I'm acting confused
When you're close to me
If I tend to look dazed I've read it someplace
I've got cause to be
There's a name for it
There's a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason you do it for me ooo
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
I've been taking on a new direction
But I have to say
I've been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way oh oh oh
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a sweet old fashioned notion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
ooh got to do with it
(What's love but a second hand emotion)
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
(What's love got to do with it) got to do with it
(What's love)

WHAT now my love?
Now that you've left me
How can I live through another day?
Watching my dreams turn into ashes
And all my hopes into bits of clay
Once I could see, once I could feel
Now I am numb, I've become unreal
I walk the night without a goal
Stripped of my heart, my soul
What now my love?
Now that it's over
I feel the world closing in on me
Here come the stars, tumbling around me
There's the sky where the sea should be
What now my love?
Now that you're gone
I'd be a fool to go on and on
No one would care, no one would cry
If I should live or die
What now my love?
Now there is nothing
Only my last goodbye

This partly similar (plenty of the word of the day)
What'cha gonna do when your baby leaves you?
What'cha gonna do when she ain't around?
What'cha gonna do when the nights get longer?
What'cha gonna do when you're feeling kind of blue and everybody knows she put you down?
What'cha gonna do when your baby won't kiss you?
What'cha gonna do when she puts you down?
Are you really sure that your baby's gonna miss you?
Has she got another that she's keeping undercover just awaiting for the day you're not around?
What'cha gonna do when your baby leaves you?
What'cha gonna do when she says goodbye?
What'cha gonna do when you're sitting all alone and your back needs a-rubbing and the floor needs scrubbing and it won't do any good to sit and cry?
Hey!
What'cha gonna do when the door stops knocking?
What'cha gonna do when the phone don't ring?
What'cha gonna do when the world starts rocking?
How you gonna bake it when she won't be there to make it and you gotta find somebody else to swing?
I said, what'cha gonna do when you won't be scoring?
What'cha gonna do when it comes to that?
What'cha gonna do when life gets boring when it gets to be a habit tell me how you're gonna grab it when you never know exactly where it's at?
When you never know exactly where it's at
When you never know exactly where it's at

WHAT goes on in your heart?
WHAT goes on in your mind?
You are tearing me apart
When you treat me so unkind
WHAT goes on in your mind?
The other day I saw you
As I walked along the road
But when I saw him with you
I could feel my future fold
It's so easy for a girl like you to lie
Tell me why
WHAT goes on in your heart?
WHAT goes on in your mind?
You are tearing me apart
When you treat me so unkind
WHAT goes on in your mind
I met you in the morning
Waiting for the tides of time
But now the tide is turning
I can see that I was blind
It's so easy for a girl like you to lie
Tell me why
WHAT goes on in your heart?
I used to think of no on else
But you were just the same
You didn't even think of me
As someone with a name
Did you mean to break my heart and watch me die
Tell me why
WHAT goes on in your heart?
WHAT goes on in your mind?
You are tearing me apart
When you treat me so unkind
WHAT goes on in your mind?

Oh WHAT a feeling
I get high just thinking about you.
Oh WHAT a feeling
Can’t get by just being without you.
I know the time isn’t right for me to make you mine
But oh WHAT a feeling
Oh WHAT a feeling

Sorry couldn’t find the lyrics so just transcribed the opening 47 seconds.
Fat man lookin' in a blade of steel
Thin man lookin' at his last meal
Hollow man lookin' in a cottonfield
For dignity
Wise man lookin' in a blade of grass
Young man lookin' in the shadows that pass
Poor man lookin' through painted glass
For dignity
Somebody got murdered on New Year's Eve
Somebody said dignity was the first to leave
I went into the city, went into the town
Went into the land of the midnight sun
Searchin' high, searchin' low
Searchin' everywhere I know
Askin' the cops wherever I go
Have you seen dignity?
Blind man breakin' out of a trance
Puts both his hands in the pockets of chance
Hopin' to find one circumstance
Of dignity
I went to the wedding of Mary-Lou
She said "Don't want nobody see me talkin' to you"
Said she could get killed if she told me what she knew
About dignity
I went down where the vultures feed
I would've got deeper, but there wasn't any need
Heard the tongues of angels and the tongues of men
Wasn't any difference to me
Chilly wind sharp as a razor blade
House on fire, debts unpaid
Gonna stand at the window, gonna ask the maid
Have you seen dignity?
Drinkin' man listens to the voice he hears
In a crowded room full of covered up mirrors
Lookin' into the lost forgotten years
For dignity
Met Prince Phillip at the home of the blues
Said he'd give me information if his name wasn't used
He wanted money up front, said he was abused
By dignity
Footprints runnin' cross the sliver sand
Steps goin' down into tattoo land
I met the sons of darkness and the sons of light
In the border towns of despair
Got no place to fade, got no coat
I'm on the rollin' river in a jerkin' boat
Tryin' to read a note somebody wrote
About dignity
Sick man lookin' for the doctor's cure
Lookin' at his hands for the lines that were
And into every masterpiece of literature
for dignity
Englishman stranded in the blackheart wind
Combin' his hair back, his future looks thin
Bites the bullet and he looks within
For dignity
Someone showed me a picture and I just laughed
Dignity never been photographed
I went into the red, went into the black
Into the valley of dry bone dreams
So many roads, so much at stake
So many dead ends, I'm at the edge of the lake
Sometimes I wonder WHAT it's gonna take
To find dignity
The word for Monday, January 20: MONDAY
MONDAY, MONDAY, so good to me;
Monday morning, it was all I hoped it would be.
Oh, MONDAY morning, MONDAY morning couldn't guarantee
That MONDAY evening you would still be here with me.
MONDAY, MONDAY can't trust that day;
MONDAY, MONDAY, sometimes it just turns out that way.
Oh, MONDAY morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be.
Oh, MONDAY, MONDAY, how could you leave and not take me?
Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah.
But whenever MONDAY comes - but whenever MONDAY comes
You can find me crying all of the time.
MONDAY, MONDAY, so good to me;
MONDAY morning, it was all I hoped it would be.
But MONDAY morning, MONDAY morning couldn't guarantee
That MONDAY evening you would still be here with me.
Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah.
But whenever MONDAY comes - but whenever MONDAY comes
You can find me crying all of the time.
MONDAY, MONDAY, can't trust that day;
Monday, Monday, it just turns out that way.
Oh, MONDAY, MONDAY, won't go away;
MONDAY, MONDAY, it's here to stay.
Oh MONDAY, MONDAY
Oh MONDAY, MONDAY

MONDAY mornin' feels so bad
Ev'rybody seems to nag me
Comin' Tuesday I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Wed'sday just don't go
Thursday goes too slow
I've got Friday on my mind
Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she's so pretty
She looks fine tonight
She is out of sight to me
Tonight I'll spend my bread, tonight
I'll lose my head, tonight
I've got to get to night
Monday I'll have Friday on my mind
Do the five day grind once more
I know of nothin' else that bugs me
More than workin' for the rich man
Hey! I'll change that scene one day
Today I might be mad, tomorrow I'll be glad
'Cause I'll have Friday on my mind
Gonna have fun in the city
Be with my girl, she's so pretty
She looks fine tonight.
She is out of sight to me
Tonight I'll spend my bread, tonight
I'll lose my head, tonight
I've got to get to night
Monday I'll have Friday on my mind
Six o'clock already
I was just in the middle of a dream
I was kissin' Valentino
By a crystal blue Italian stream
But I can't be late
'Cause then I guess I just won't get paid
These are the days
When you wish your bed was already made
It's just another manic MONDAY
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
My I don't have to run day
It's just another manic MONDAY
Have to catch an early train
Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an air-o-plane
I still couldn't make it on time
'Cause it takes me so long
Just to figure out what I'm gonna wear
Blame it on the train
But the boss is already there
All of the nights
Why did my lover have to pick last night
To get down
Doesn't it matter
That I have to feed the both of us
Employment's down
He tells me in his bedroom voice
C'mon honey, let's go make some noise
Time it goes so fast
When you're having fun

MONDAY morning you sure look fine
Friday I got travelin' on my mind
First you love me and then you fade away
I can't go on believin' this way
I got nothing but love for you
Tell me what you really want to do
First you love me, then you get on down the line
But I don't mind, I don't mind, yeah
I'll be there if you want me to
No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind
MONDAY morning you sure look fine
Friday I got travelin' on my mind
First you love me and then you say it's wrong
You know I can't go on believing for long
But you know it's true
You only want me when I get over you
First you love me, then you get on down the line
But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, yeah
I'll be there if you want me to
No one else that could ever do
Got to get some peace in my mind
But you know it's true
You know you only want me when I get over you
First you love me, then you get on down the line
But I don't mind, no, I don't mind, yeah

The silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's going to make them stay at home
And daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was as good as gold
And he can see no reason
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be sure
Oh, oh, oh tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
I want to shoot
The whole day down
The Telex machine is kept so clean
As it types to a waiting world
And mother feels so shocked
Father's world is rocked
And their thoughts turn to their own little girl
Sweet sixteen ain't that peachy keen
Now, it ain't so neat to admit defeat
They can see no reasons
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need oh, woah
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
I want to shoot
The whole day down
Down, down
Shoot it all down
All the playing's stopped in the playground now
She wants to play with her toys a while
And school's out early and soon we'll be learning
And the lesson today is how to die
And then the bullhorn crackles
And the captain tackles
With the problems and the how's and why's
And he can see no reasons
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to die, die
Oh, oh, oh and the silicon chip inside her head
Gets switched to overload
And nobody's gonna go to school today
She's going to make them stay at home
And daddy doesn't understand it
He always said she was as good as gold
And he can see no reason
'Cause there are no reasons
What reason do you need to be sure
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like, I don't like, I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like, I don't like, (tell me why) I don't like MONDAYS
Tell me why
I don't like MONDAYS
I want to shoot, the whole day down, uh, uh, uh

MONDAY morning comes too early
Work my back to the bone
All day MONDAY I keep thinking
"Weekend's coming, gonna go home"
Tuesday I hate, oh Tuesday
Ain't no girls on the streets
Tuesday it ain't good for nothing
Drinking beer and watching TV
Friday, Friday evening
Come on Friday, it's been too long
Friday, Friday evening
Come on Friday, I wanna go home
Wednesday's hump day, hump day's Wednesday
Over the hump, the week's half-gone
If I had my pay on Wednesday I'd hang out, the hump day's gone
Thursday, you know I feel better
I can see the end in sight
Think I'll write myself a letter
Help myself through the night
Friday, Friday evening
Come on Friday, it's been too long
Friday, Friday evening
Come on Friday, I wanna go home

Oh, you can kiss me on a MONDAY
A Monday, a Monday is very, very good
Or you can kiss me on a Tuesday
A Tuesday, a Tuesday, in fact I wish you would
Or you can kiss me on a Wednesday
A Thursday, a Friday and Saturday is best
But never, never on a Sunday
A Sunday, a Sunday, 'cause that's my day of rest
Most any day you can be my guest
Any day you say, but my day of rest
Just name the day that you like the best
Only stay away on my day of rest
Oh, you can kiss me on a cool day, a hot day
A wet day, which everyone you choose
Or try to kiss me on a gray day, a May day
A pay day, and see if I refuse
And if you make it on a bleak day
A freak day, a week day, why you can be my guest
But never, never on a Sunday
