Express interest in who she is as a person. Get to know her. Show you care. And if there's mutual attraction, it's a given. It will happen naturally.

I was always straight up about the question. If I saw someone I wanted to have sex with I'd ask her if she was horny and would like to take care of that problem. This was before AIDS was a problem and many ladies said they liked that I came up and told them straight up what I wanted instead of coming on with some cheesy line.
