Thank You to all who answered my blog. After spending three nights camped in the woods walking where my dog and I walked many times, I'm ready to face the world again! Anyone who's never tried it, take a walk in the woods. It can be very cleansing.
I agree, and I can totally relate. I lost my doggie a few months back. He had a heart of gold. I am lucky because I live on a few acres in the country, so I just go in the back yard. Just yesterday the deer were playing and running around with their fawns...still in spots and about 2' tall. It really is peaceful to watch them. Plus, I gather their poop...which is everywhere for my garden. About a month ago I found a tiger salamander drying up and dying in the garage, so I made a nice habitat for him in a fish tank. Then, just yesterday I was looking for bugs to feed him and I flipped over a piece of wood and found another in the same condition. Now he has a friend and they are getting along swimmingly hehe. I call him sooliman, and her sylvia. I will release them when they fatten up soon.
Outdoors is restorative, it helps you maintain perspective. It’s one of those things that many know from experience, and psychological studies confirm. Even getting out of your house yet remaining in populated areas can help.
Oh yes. The fresh air, the absolute silence of the woods, nothing like it. As for populated areas though, I try to stay away from them as much as possible. I live in the country so fortunately that's not really much of a problem.
I do like camping and enjoy the freedom of being alone and able to just enjoy the quiet and peaceful times. I can understand your love for your dog as well! I have a true friend in my yellow lab. I'm near the coast so taking the boat out and camping on a small island is awesome, swimming naked under the moon light is so sexy
I go to smoky mountains twice a year just to go hiking and enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the forest. It's very relaxing and takes the stress out.
