US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.
Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.
To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness! |
(aka "DL")
It's like CL but without the lowlife CL ghetto-shit.
I've been using DL for the past 3 months and I'm
VERY Impressed with it.
The site keeps growing, more features and cities added.
And best of all, the site is moderated by a live staff
24-7, and you won't see prostitutes/hustlers posting
ads there, because they get flagged/banned/blocked
right away. DL won't tolerate any lowlife crap.
DL lets you respond directly to ad authors, and as
long as you include/retype your email with your response
the author will be able to reply back to you.
CL used an email relay bot that expired as ads were
flagged or removed. DL doesn't use email relay.
Doublelist allows 3 ads per user per day.
You might sometimes see users there post 5 or 6 ads,
all at once, but then DL draws the line. Awesome!
You can post your ad, and it stays listed for 60 days.
You can renew your ad after 48 hours.
An ad on Craigs was lucky to stay up for the entire
45 days until it expired, if it didn't get flagged sooner.
Doublelist also doesn't tolerate abusive flagging.
Abusive Flaggers get caught, banned, and blocked.
Their site staff keep a watchful eye.
Remember Craigslist's "Rants and Raves"? That notorious
corner where the CL trolls puke and vent their Haateful
and Racist musings...
Doublelist doesn't have such a thing, and never will.
Opinions and Disagreements are a healthy thing;
but violent haate speech shouldn't be tolerated Anywhere.
You also won't see repeat ads cluttering the entire page
at DL like it was on CL...
DL allows one account per user/email address/IP address
and phone number, and they are strict about fighting Spam.
Their anti-spam filter is so good even an innocent ad
gets caught and quarantined; if that happens to you
you'd have to contact the site staff to have them
manually review your ad for approval. It's a good thing.
Doublelist is miles ahead of what Craigslist tried to be;
and they've improved in so many aspects where CL
had always failed.
The staff at CL were a bunch of Assholes.
The staff at Doublelist are courteous and professional.
If you have any questions that can't be answered in
their Help/FAQ page just email the site staff and
someone will reply back to you within several hours
or a day or 2 depending on how many inquiries they get;
but they DO respond personally.
I'm in upstate NY and so far I've had a couple hits
on Doublelist in my region.
That's far better than I can say for Craigslist.
Craigslist is Dead, no tears shed.
