Sadomasochism

Sadomasochism is the giving or receiving pleasure from acts involving the receipt or infliction of pain or humiliation. Practitioners of sadomasochism may seek sexual gratification from their acts. While the terms sadist and masochist refer respectively to one who enjoys giving or receiving pain, practitioners of sadomasochism may switch between activity and passivity.

The abbreviation S&M is often used for sadomasochism, although practitioners themselves normally remove the ampersand and use the acronym S-M or SM or S/M when written throughout the literature. Sadomasochism is not considered a clinical paraphilia unless such practices lead to clinically significant distress or impairment for a diagnosis.[1] Similarly, sexual sadism within the context of mutual consent, generally known under the heading BDSM, is distinguished from non-consensual acts of sexual a.B.u.s.e or aggression.[2]

Sadist refers to:

• Sadistic personality disorder, is the term for individuals who derive pleasure from the suffering of others (see also Antisocial personality disorder)

• Sadomasochism, one who engages with consenting partners in aspects of pain or humiliation for sexual pleasure

• Sexual sadism disorder, one who suffers from a medical/psychological condition for sexual arousal from inflicting pain/humiliation on unwilling, non-consenting victims

Difference Between Sadistic and Masochistic

Sadistic

If a person has a tendency to be cruel to another person just for the sake of fun, he is said to be sadistic. This cruelty is reflected in both physical and mental pain being inflicted upon the victim. A sadist is not limited to other human beings and, if a person gets pleasure out of hitting a puppy, he is still a sadist. In normal circumstances, though, word sadism has come to be used in sexual contexts. The origin of the word is traced to the sexual behavior of a count named A. F. de Sade who was notorious for his sexual abuse of prostitutes. A sadist is always happy or derives pleasure from the pain of another person. In reference to sex, this could imply hurting private parts of a woman and being happy seeing the pain on the face of the victim.

Masochistic

There are people who derive pleasure from being beaten in sharp contrast to those who derive pleasure from beating others. Thus, a masochistic person would scream to be beaten as he derives pleasure out of being beaten by his sexual partner. A masochistic person gets pleasure by inflicting pain upon him, or he may ask a sadistic person to beat him so as to derive pleasure. The pleasure these people get upon being in pain is related with the release of endorphin hormones during the act.

What is the difference between Sadistic and Masochistic?

• A sadistic is a person who gets pleasure inflicting pain upon others while a masochistic person is one who gets pleasure by being in pain and thus inflicts pain upon self by himself or by a sadistic person.

• A sadist hits a masochist in BDSM relationship that is a major category of pornography these days. In fact, sadist and masochistic persons are integral components of any BDSM relationship

• Sadomasochism is a compound word made out of sadism and masochism where the sadist inflicts pain and derives pleasure while masochistic receives pain and derives pleasure
