Thanks for all the given advice The major culprit was I think internet explorer 11. Now I use google chrome and everything works properly again I believe

Make sure JavaScript support is turned on in your browser. This site is built on a very basic technology that has been here for many years, without any fancy modern stuff, so it should work in a majority of browsers and devices. I think it would work even in browsers that are 7-8 years old.

I don't know why JS support would be turned off, usually it's on by default. But you should check it. OS does not have anything to do with this, it's browser's settings. And from what you describe - it's turned off or may be blocked by some addons.

As for the videos - you probably do not have video-codecs installed. Usually over time you install new codecs and forget, but when you reinstall the OS you start all clean. This does not have anything to do with the site or OS itself either. Just download a proper new codec pack for your video software. You may wish to install GOM or VLC player, they have most of the actual codecs included. Recently VLC seems to be more reliable, though personally I don't like the controls.

Firefox is an answer. Google and the rest of the big boys out there are not our friends. And yes, do use an anti-virus program-I use Kaspersky for most issues.
